Silly question I know but I would really like to how you u guys got ur luggage in a car rental on arrival bearing in mind that we are a family of 5. We have 3 children, 10, 4 & 22mnths and we will all roughly have 1suitcase each plus an extra one for airbeds etc (taking advantage of double baggage allowance) and I really don't know how we will all fit in a car hire. We wanted to be able to hire one straight from airport for 3-4days to give us time to be able to buy one.

Any advice & experience anyone can offer would be really appreciated x

Hi Lucy G,

I visited Perth in April with my 6 year old daughter. We had 2 suitcases and 2 bits of hand luggage. Our hire car was the smallest you could get as I was on a tight budget at the time with the hire car. I was given a Suzuki Swift, which are great runarounds and very nice to drive, however, I could only fit the smallest of the suitcases in the boot and the larger one had to sit on the back seat (taking all the room), along with the handluggage. My daughter had to sit in the front on her booster seat, which we hired from the car hire company. So I am guessing you will need quite a large car (people carrier), which are not cheap to hire!!!!

Hi we used Mindarie car hire who collected us from the airport (extra cost) in a people carrier and they took us to our rental where our hire car was waiting. Great service if you want there details send me a PM and ill give you there number.

Very true Geordie Lass, we have been looking at the carhires & they ain't cheap for wot we will need!

Thank U Keith but we are heading for South Perth (warnbro) and Minderie is a bit of a distance but that has given me the idea to look at any car rentals nearer to where we are headed for so thanks for that I never realised they would offer that service!

Hi Lucy, we faced the same dilemma. In the end we decided to get a cab from the airport to take us to Cottesloe where we were initially staying. We then used Bayswater Car Rentals which turned out to be significantly cheaper than getting a car from the airport. Good luck with everything!

Hi lucy we were the same we are a family of 5 and had 9 suitcases and were heading to secret harbour, we hired a car and had it dropped off at the airport(northside car rentals) really good and cheap just a bit of a treck when you have to take it back. When do you arrive? Kelly

We hired a 4x4 for a week an Xtrail type size for, four of us. Fortunatly we were given a free upgrade and ended up with a Nissan Pathfinder and only just managed to fit the cases in. We managed to buy one on about day 4 so all was good, just and to drive it back from Secret Harbour to the airport which as Kelly says is a bit of a treck!

My God Kelly wot size car did u hire?? We have a little wait yet we don't arrive til April I'm getting a bit ahead of myself but we booked our flights the other day & thought we might as well look into getting a car booked - another thing off an endless but enjoyable list! We were looking at 4x4's - on the details they say 2suitcases & 2bags but I guess u can fit in more than that?? The other option would be a car & a cab from the airport but that just adds to bill.

I guess if u guys managed to all get in 1 car I'm sure we can x

Yes we are really excited now and boring everyone silly here cos we can't stop going on about it! Hopefully with xmas inbetween the time will fly past! People keep saying we should enjoy wot we have left here & make the most of it but we've been waiting so long for this & I've lived here for 31yrs & I can't wait to start afresh! It would be lovely to meet up when we get there - we're headed for Warnbro initially in a shortterm rental so hopefully not too far from you?? Any friendly faces would be totally welcomed!

That was nice of ur boss to do that too - still trying to get hubby a job at mo but I guess that'll come nearer the time. Lets hope his boss is as nice as ur hubbys!

I think we're gonna go with a 4X4 (which'll make my hubby happy!) if we don't fit a couple of us will have to grab a taxi x

Hi,

we found it much cheaper to ge a taxi wagon from the airport, then hire a car closer to where you are going to stay. You can get better deals on car hire away from the airport. Also it's a lot less stressful letting someone else drive after a long flight.

All the best.

Thanks Malcs thats a really useful tip - only trouble I can't find any car hires near where we are headed to - Warnbro/Port Kennedy way. If any one knows of any around that area please give me their names as it would be much easier to return if it were closer.

No Kelly, we don't know anybody (eeeekkkk!) We really want to settle in Secret Harbour too it sounds soooo lovely there - we will definately have to catch up when we arrive! xx

I'm just booking our hire car for our validation trip in December. Can anyone tell me if a Corollan Sedan is big enough to carry 4 passengers and 4 medium suitcases? Also can anyone suggest a taxi wagon from the airport to Mandurah that is not going to give me a heart attack on cost!! I'm looking at using Bayswater Car Hire in Fremantle.............has anyone used them? Are the cars ok? Are they easy to find?

Thanks in advance for any help given it really will be appreciated.
