Hope you get some replies as i would be interested to know whats best, i will have quite a few boxes but not taking furniture, although if theres not much difference in price in the half container rather than just shipping boxes i would be tempted to buy a washing machine/ tumble dryer/tall fridge/and freezer as i think they are cheaper over here and fill the half container. Hi

We had approx 350 sqm and it cost around £1800. We brought 2x2 seater sofas, king sized bed, two single beds (new so flat packed) with mattresses, 6ft punch bag, 3 guitars plus cases, and approx 20 odd boxes of varying sizes. We used Fox International UK end, who used Wridgways this end. Not one item broke and delivered on time :)

Hi there,

I went to an expo the other week and a company there quoted £4000 for a full container (which he said would fit all the contents of a 3 bed house) or £2800 for a shared container. This includes storage and delivery and unpacking in your new home.

I know people who have gone to Oz and only taken a few pallets costing a few hundred pounds.

Hi Guys,

We used John Mason, It cost £2800 to move our gear. They made a case for my TV and came in and packed everything in 2 days. The large items were a Tool Box, king sized bed, bedroom furniture and sofa plus 20 odd boxes. They will unpack and rebuild the stuff when it arrives in Perth. So far our experience with the company has been top draw, If their sister company in Perth is as good then we will have no complaints and would recommend them to anyone. I will post the latter in 8 to 10 weeks :)

We just had a quotation from a company Anglo Pacific - however the shipping of our car was included!!! We are shipping 1 king size bed with mattress, 1 single bed with 2 mattresses (has pull out second bed from underneath), solid oak 2m long sideboard, 1 L shaped large sofa, 1 large sofa, 2 armchairs, 1 fridge freezer, 1 washing machine, solid oak bedroom furniture and a few boxes of clothing, xbox etc, golf clubs and a tool box. Our total quote is £4.5k (inc car) which is a door to door packing and unpacking service included. Very reasonable I think considering its includes the car :D.

we have a 20ft container booked for sole useage from Pickfords who are coming on the 18th and 19th October to pack and ship our belongings. It has cost us £4,100 including insurance to the value of £20,000.

We had agreed with Anglo Pacific in Scotland at the beginning but had a nightmare with them with regards to communication, or lack of it so changed to Pickfords who were cheaper anyway. We have found Pickfords to be very good and are even willing to store our furniture for a couple of weeks with no extra charge. Plus they have been keeping in touch with us to see if wee need any help with anything.
