British expats in Perth may be spoilt for choice this summer when the city hosts a plethora of UK entertainment acts.

The likes of Stephen Fry, Alan Davies, Sir Elton John, Eddie Izzard, John Cleese, Michael Parkinson, Rod Stewart, Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd fame), Def Leppard, The Moody Blues and Steve Winwood, will all be hitting the stage in Perth over the coming months.

A younger generation of UK acts, including Arctic Monkeys, Jessie J, The Wombats and Kasabian, have also announced shows in Western Australia

In a recent interview, John Cleese, who has extended his Perth run to 4 shows, said he felt a strong affinity with Australian audiences.

"I really do," he said. "I came here almost a week ago and started walking around the streets and I almost literally stopped and thought, 'My God, I feel more comfortable here than I do in London'. "It's extraordinary. What I like about the Aussie culture is that it's so straightforward. There is no bull----."

The 2006 census revealed that nearly 10 per cent (142,424) of Perth residents were born in England, easily making it the largest migrant population, and 1.4 per cent of residents (20,553) were born in Scotland.
