Guest Cathy
I have two daughters, 16 and 12 this year. We are planning to come out to Perth in jan 12 but not sure what School years they will enter? My eldest has just started a levels here but looks like she would go into year 12 which is last year of high school. Not sure that will work. What do they study in years 11 and 12. Is it broader than a levels. Thanks
ali
My daughter is in year 11 and years 11 and 12 are like a two year course, so just doing one year of them probably won't be good enough for Uni. I know my friends daughter stayed in the UK to complete A levels then applied to Uni here (and got in on the basis of her results). Perhaps talk to one of the high schools in the area you've chosen - they may suggest her completing years 11 and 12 here.
Guest Cathy
Thanks Ali for your help. Could you tell me what subjects are studied in years 11 and 12. Is it broader than in the uk?
ali
My daughter chose options at the end of year 10 - she really wanted to do Media but is was on the same matrix as something else, so she dropped it. I think schools may vary, but at my daughters school they offer all the sciences - Biology and Human Biology are different subjects, French and Japanese, Politics and Law, Media .... My daughter is doing all TEE (exam) subjects in English Lit, Maths, Geography, Human Biology, French, Modern History. To be honest, I haven't got my head around this system, exams she's doing now in year 11 go towards her final marks in year 12.
