Guest keith73
Hi all, We have been here 3 weeks now and are slowly getting settled in, So far we have got Kellys registration sorted, sorted out our bank account, mobi and prepaid broadband, managed to get a rental sorted in Yangebup cant wait to hang my clothes up and not live out of a suitcase, have to try and get the kids into school next week or the week after. And we have managed to get some sight seeing done as well, but its hard going when you get here trying to start a fresh but its possible people are friendly and will help you out if you ask. That'll do for now any questions for people coming over soon ask away and ill try and answer them.

I come over for a 4 week holiday in 12 sleeps time!!! I can't wait. Have sorted most things out over the internet, even my longterm accomodation!! I was wondering, have you managed to get a contract mobile. I wasn't sure how that worked in Oz for migrants as not having credit history in Oz, is it possible to still get a contract mobile? Many thanks, Michelle x

PerthPomToBe
Hi Keith, I am glad everything is going smoothly for you. We arrived on Wed and everything is still a bit of a whirlwind, we are going to our first viewing of a house tommorrow so it all so exciting. How are the kids settling in for you? It is surprising me how my little boy is just taking everything in his stride! I think he is handling it all better than the grown ups are! lol. Guest keith73
Hi folks, Michelle I cant help with the contract mobiles our are payngo but we topped up with $30 and got loads of bonuses and ended up with $350 credit ??? Hassan its just a case of looking on the internet at areas near work really then once you are here driving around and trying to get a feel for the area and then seeing if there are properties available in your price range. Bev the viewings are a bit weird in and out very quickly we only went to 5 but be prepared for a bit of a shock at the state of some of the houses look great on all the pictures but totally different in the flesh also with some agents to apply for a house you need to give them a weeks rent but if you dont get the peoperty they give you the money back, yeah the boys have settled in ok they are bored now and needing school we took them out at the start of the Scottish school holidays and they havent been back so i think theyve been off for about 12 weeks . Good luck with the house hunting a wee tip is they want Aussie referees or if you have any Uk rental references, and it always helps to offer and extra $20 a week onto the rent

Michelle x I always use vodafone payasugo when on hols in oz, always had grt deals so will more than likely follow suit when i go over for good, just get l the sim from the news agent, it's just a pain in the bum having to phone vodafone with all relevant details from passport and they need an address too. It's a marketing thing - you get $350 "value". They give you 350 of their "dollars" and their charges per minute/text are then measured in their "dollars". A bit of a nonsense if you ask me Keith - glad you're settling in.

PerthPomToBe
Hi, can I just put my tuppence worth in?.... We were lucky and a co-worker of my partners gave us 2 PAYG mobi's on our arrival. They were with Telstra and I put $30 in on our first night which was the 5th and my balance still says $30 and I have been calling the UK at least once a day for about 20 mins a pop. I dont know anything about the other providers but I definately think you get value for your money with Telstra. Hope this helps a little!
