Perth becoming a 'Regional Area' ... Will ths help?

Hiya All

I am new to this forum but have been stalking Poms in Oz for a while now and noticed that this is their sister site

I am totally confused about where to start with a visa application ... so I'll tell my story right from the beginning! I am a Primary School Teacher, 33 years old with family in Mandurah who are willing to sponsor us with our application. My job has come off the SOL 1 and I have been advised by an agent that I can only go to SA with my qualifications. Although I am not totally against going to SA, I would ideally like to go straight to Mandurah to be near my family and do not want to move my children (aged 8 & 5) twice. A post on PIO states that Perth has become a Regional Area and I was wondering if this would help my application? Can my family sponsor me ... will I receive points for this rather than applying for state sponsorship? This would be an ideal situation as the alternative is to apply on my husbands skills as a floor fitter (time served) but he does not have any formal qualifications so would have to take the AQF III and is also fast approaching 40 so we will lose point on his age.

Any advice would be truly appreciated as we really are going around in circles at the moment!

Thanks,

Eve

Not sure if this will help but we went through Visa Bureau and they were really helpful and brilliant throughout & u can ask as many questions as you like! They really do know their stuff plus they are based in London so no worries on time differences x

Unfortunately without your job on the SOL you can't take advantage of the regional classification. If it were then you would get 10 points on a 475 visa for having a relative in any part of WA.

Have you had a good read through of the Skilled Migration Booklet and the information on the DIAC website as there is lots to help you find the right option. Alternatively you could contact an agent and get an assessment of your options from them but it sounds as if you've already done that.
