Guest Clarebear
Congratulations both of you! We got ours Sept 27th, one week after meds. Still in shock. Quick question, is it right that all the visas are just put on electronically and we don't get the orange sticker? I want a sticker or something to reassure me! Have read the conditions and it says not but I still don't believe you can go to Oz forever without the magical orange sticker..?

Druid
Hi CrisMich, congrats on getting your visa, I applied for my 457 last week after getting sponsorship approved so now just waiting for visa to be issued, we are hoping to fly out by the middle of November, I noticed you have a 17 year old, my son is 17 and panicking about getting a decent job or an apprenticeship, he looked into a college course but we were all shocked by the fees they would charge as we are only on a 457, what plans have you made with your 17 year old, thanks in advance
Guest ChrisMich
We received our visas electronically. Have to say don"t know anything about the orange sticker, hope someone can shed some light on this. Still in disbelief but how great it is to start clearing out the house, although have been painting - getting sick of gloss at the moment!! Guest ChrisMich
Bringing our 17 year old daughter (who will be leaving the boyfriend behind) is our biggest worry! She's not a very outgoing girl and we are just hoping that when she starts college (Tafe) she will mix in ok and make friends. My daughter is training to be a hairdresser so have been in touch with a college to ask what the course will entail. We are still trying to find out about fees. Have to admit trying to find the right place to live and sort out education for both children worries me. We are due to fly out end of December. Guest Clarebear
Hey I'm sure we don't need a magic sticker, it would be nice though... I too have a teenage daughter (16) she's going to high school to do the last 2 years or just the last year if they feel she has enough credit from her GCSEs. Have you decided on an area yet? Hoping to head NOR in Dec !!!! Too excited xxx:biggrin: We received our visas electronically. Have to say don"t know anything about the orange sticker, hope someone can shed some light on this. As you are on a 457 unfortunatley your daughter will be classed as an overseas student and the TAFE will cash in, the fees are rediculous, twice that of UK Uni fees even at the revised rate, try looking on www.seek.com.au in the search type apprentice and in the region pick Perth, there are loads of hairdressing apprenticeships, it might be a better way to go, we going to have to do this with my son, he too is leaving his girlfriend

Guest northwest
Hi Clarebear and Paul, You dont need your magic orange sticker its all on computer and you can bring your print out just in case from your case officer! Buuuuut like you i love the orange sticker and had no hesitation in sending the passports off special delivery and a self addressed special delivery envelope. Few days later we were proud owners of four orangeticketed passports which i kept looking at the words 'indefinately'. ACE! Paul, i started the process at end of Jan this year, was right on the ball and so was my agent OE (overseas emmigration) based in Edinburgh! The application went in at end of May and the case office was asking for meds and police checks not long after! We didnt have the meds done straight away because we were waiting on our new baby being born and then waiting a while longer until she was old enough as we had to travel from the isle of man to manchester. We sent in our police checks and the same g]day we got the visa! We got our visa about 2 weeks ago. It sounds bad but i dont mean it in that way but we probably would of had our visas in July if it wasnt for waiting for baby! Any other info i can help with dont hesitate to get in touch! All the best!
Guest ChrisMich
We too are looking at NOR. Currently liking Joondalup, Duncraig, Hillarys - that sort of area. Just need to match up the schools and house together. Where are you looking at?

Guest ChrisMich
We are hoping to land by end of December. We are however really struggling to find short stay furnished accommodation that's suitable. Hubby is due to start work at beginning of January and we've been told by some of the rentals that we couldn't have picked one of the worst months as it's holiday season! I know Perth is a big place but surely it can't be that difficult to find somewhere to rent whilst we try and find a long term place to rent!!? Can I ask what others have done or how they've gone about finding somewhere? I've used some of the links/suggestions on other threads and I'm getting no where! I think I'm prematurely ageing fast ! Hassan Hello Hassan Sorry for the slow responce, I lost the thread, we have not yet arrived in Perth, we will arrive 27th November, I just looked around for a short term furnished house to rent on all the usual web sites, we will have two months to find somewhere more permanent as we are shipping all of our furniture etc from the UK so we will need somewhere unfurnished. The Perth gumtree has a wide range of places available depending on your budget.

Have read the conditions and it says not but I still don't believe you can go to Oz forever without the magical orange sticker..? Hi Clare, You can take your passport and proof of the visa to the nearest Australian Visa Processing Office or High Commision to have it stamped on your passport. We got our 176 Visa in March and we took our passports to the London Office to have the orange stamp in them. It took a couple of hours and that was it. I am sure you can also post it to them with a prepaid recorded delivery envelope and they will stamp it in your passport for you. This method take about three to four working days. One note of caution though, when we took ours to London the official told us we don't have to have the stamp in our passports but I insisted that I would rather have it stamped and so they did. Hope this helps.

As you have mentioned that you are arriving in Perth on November 27,I am sure you must have chosen some potential residential suburb?Anyway, wish you all the best for your move and settlement! I have read somewhere that South Perth is comparatively less costlier in terms of house rentals....is it true? I will arrive in Perth somewhere in April 12 with my family but without furnitures and all this stuff...... Please keep in touch and keep us updated!
