Guest busybee
:smile:Hi all, Just wondered does anyone have any info / preferences on these 2 areas. We like the look of both! Thanks
ali
Never travelled to Joondalup in the 4.5 years I've been here, but I do love Fremantle, it's an older city, quite vibrant. Some parts can be quite expensive to live
portlaunay
We started in Freo, have been in Willetton for 6 weeks, we're looking to get back to Freo asap. We visited Joondalup and TBH we hated it, it's just not what we're looking for but we have friends there who love it.

phil
If I found somewhere I liked that I could afford, I'd prefer Fremantle over Joondalup. I'd probably have to actually try it, but I suspect the commute from Joondalup into the CBD would be too long for me.
Guest methuselah
Old versus modern - depends on your taste. If you have a car be sure you can park. Try the suburbs around Joondalup for the best of both worlds. The Mitchell Freeway will get you to Perth CBD by car in about 40 minutes depending on traffic and your right foot! Fremantle's closer but the traffic's worse.
Guest methuselah
Oh, forgot to say. Joondalup is swarming with poms! Again, depends what you want!

Guest pat and mike
give me Freo any day...just wish i could afford to live there!
portlaunay
Fremantle's closer but the traffic's worse. Or you could just take the reliable, clean, friendly and cheap (compared to London), train.
Guest methuselah
I remember Perth had a good train service, not that we ever used it cos we heard it wasn't safe after dark, dunno what you think. But how ingenious to run a train down the centre of the freeway! Imagine if we did that here with the M25, or other motorways. But I guess the problem would be where do you put the stations and shunt people off into the surrounding areas without building on green land. At least over there the Mitchell Freeway, for example, has suburbs on either side for park & rides and stuff. Happy New Year to you all anyway, I was thinking of King's Park last night at midnight but London's display was pretty good!
portlaunay
Sat on the train now and there's a poster advertising a free train service at 2.15 & 4 in the morning. With regards to safety give me Perth at at night over Croydon, Lewisham or New Cross anytime!
Guest pat and mike
...or Moss Side or Salford. we still think " you don't know what rough is" when we hear/read about personal safety. a knife fight in Northbridge can make the front page of the West...in the Manchester Evening News it would only get 2"x2" mention in the end column of P5...and there'd have to be a fatality to merit that coverage !! Wonderful WA
Guest methuselah
Still reckon there was more crime over there though than in the UK - unless more of it was reported. I used to listen to 6PR on my way to work & the news was always full of it. Here it's all politics, although they are still talking about the Riots back in August!
