Guest TheHollies
Hi, we are looking at moving to Perth next year, can anyone offer any advice as to how easy it would be to find work as a mechanic in and around Perth (looking at Bunbury and surrounding areas)? My hubby is a fully qualified mechanic/MOT tester and currently works for the AA. Does anyone know what sort of pay he would get? Thanks Kirsty, Ian, Emily & Matthew
Guest emi-great
Hi There are lots of opportunities for mechanics in WA in fact the MTA (Motor Trades Association) have sent some one specifically to the UK to recruit people because there is such a shortage. Wages for skilled men start at around $800 per week but some places are offering quite a bit more because a lot of mechanics have gone to the mines where they can earn upwards of $100,000 per year. http://www.mtawa.com.au/ www.seek.com.au www.mycareer.com.au www.alljobs.com.au http://www.docep.wa.gov.au/LabourRelations/ I dont envisage you having any problem finding a job we have seen several mechanics arrive & all have easily found jobs Eve www.emi-great.com

Guest emi-great
Hi We live South of Perth in Mandurah & love the area, there are quite a lot of motor workshops both in Rockingham (20 minutes North of Mandurah) & in Mandurah so hubby should not have a problem getting work. There are also quite a few franchise dealers, Toyota, Holden, Ford,Saab, Nissan, Huyndai, Mitsubishi so he should have plenty of places to apply for work. This area is one of the fastest growing areas in Australia which means we are getting new shopping centres, schools & amenities I think it is a lovely area with fabulous beaches & lots of country type properties dependant on what you are looking for. We run a site to help new migrants with the move & there is lots of information on our topic pages about the area & aerial photos http://www.emi-great.com
