Colbournes
Hi Does anyone know if you have to register with a local doctor before you can get a prescription? Or can you see any doctor? My oh is on blood pressure tablets will they prescribe from his medical history or will they re-assess? Anything else we should know about doctors- cost for vist, cost for prescription etc Thanks Candice
Guest Bob Tonnor
Hi there Most doctors are different, some wont even let you make an appointment if you aren't registered with them, or if they do you might have to wait weeks if not months to get an appointment, some you can just turn up and get in, it all depends. Again costs for vists can depend on the doctor, on your financial situation or whether you have a pension card, prescriptions are pretty much the same with some pharmacies being cheaper than others. This may give you some answers http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/, but generally i think the best idea is ring a local doctor and try to get in for an appointment and go from there. Good luck Bob
