Hi, whoever starts this forum had two thumbs up for me. This is great that there is a forum regarding this matter and this is very helpful. But we also need to be careful.

Thanks Folks.

Not logged on here in a while, but all still going to plan.

Accepted a job offer a few weeks ago, that was conditional on me getting a 457 VISA.

Had my VISA granted at the back end of last week.

So its all go now, looking at flying out there on 8th Jan to start work.

So another family moving to perth in the New Year, fantastic timing over the christmas period tho!!

Not 100% sure where abouts i'm going to be staying when i got there, getting something provided from company for first month, so sure all will be good.

Who knows a lot about exporting cars??? looking at taking one of mine over with me. and getting lost in a pile of paperwork.

Hey, James. Good luck with your move to Perth. I fly out on 5th Jan from Newcastle. Going to settle in beautiful Baldivis - visited in November - it is gorgeous!!!! Good luck with everything. Take care, Michelle x:santa1:

hi James n Jen,

Jay (really James) and Bev here - we're originally from the NE too so great to hear fellow northerners going over as well as Michelle above :-)

We looked at the car option but for us it seemed messy and whilst the vehicle in question was lovely it also had a mind of its own at times so we cashed it in. The company I'm working for has offered me a company car -TopGear Oz described it as a washing machine on wheels, but hey its still a car.

Hope you have a great time over there, if you get stuck for a rental after the first month try speaking to Tracey from OzHouseRentals, she's helped loads of people on here inc ourselves.

regards

Jay n Bev

Hi new on here too, wer'e a family of 4 (2 teenage daughters) hopefully moving to Perth in the New Year, hubby accepted job offer and now waiting for employers to put in visa 457 appilcation when they return after Xmas break. How long does the 457 visa application take or is it different for everyone? I'm not sure but i think hubby will be coming out before me and the girls, one is in the last year of school over here and the other is halfway through 1st yr at college. Do we wait and finish education over here and come out after or do we come out when hubby comes out? Depending on visa outcome time wise the youngest will be 16 in March and the oldest 17 in April i'm really not sure what to do for the best for both of them, I've had a look on sites about Australian schools and still non the wiser? Does anyone think it's best for them to stay over here and finish their exams and will it count when they move to new school/high school/college or whatever? If the visa apps dont take too long then I don't really want to be months behind joining the hubby but will probably stay for a while to sell the house and packing up etc. I think the oldest finishes college in May and my other daughter in June so could be worth the wait, can you get all relevent exam results posted out to Australia and the proper school (GCSE) certificates in October? Hubby is going to be in rented accomodation via work for 4 weeks, wev'e still not found where to go after this lots of suburbs and it's got to be near airport as he's fly in fly out, also near secondary school (if youngest still has a yr to do) and college any suggestions? Thanks for reading hope everyones had a good Xmas. Excited, scared and confused.

sorry for posting on here ive now posted this on welcome to perth forum but i couldnt delete this from here

sorry mel

James.

Welcome!

Check out the sticky posts at the top of http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/transport-shipping/ for stuff on car shipping. Also looks like the rules are about to change.

We kind of wish we'd brought ours out - cars hold their value a lot more here than in the UK.

hiya folks...

Long over due update.

I'm in Perth now, Living in shared house in Kensington. So not to bad.

Been here nearly 6 weeks now, and starting to get round the place and see whats what, and whats where!! if that makes sense.

Car is sorted. Now, had the import approval granted, so just need to pay the bills now, and get it passed inspections.

Probably pop up here a bit more in the near future, as going to be looking for somewhere to rent early april.

Hopefully round Subi or Shenton park, but tad expensive for me round there, but will see.

Cheers

James.
