Morning - we're off to Perth in Mid-Jan too. Just James (Muppet) and Bev (Mrs Muppet) here and two cats.

We're in Baldivis for our until the end of March then looking for a longterm rental NOR.

Best of luck in the move, there seems several people on here going around the same time so we'll have to plan a group meet up.

Is it right that due to tourist season the rentals at that time would be skyrocketing?........any experienced member here is invited to comment on the length of the tourist season in Western Australia and its corresponding impact on rentals and related paraphernalia....

We got our dog following us out in April, and finding the same, bit restricted on rentals allowing pets!! Gonna start the hunt for a car rental, but dont want something to flash, looking to save some $ for buying a car as soon as we have a long term rental.

We took a months rental in Subiaco, as its pretty close to Fionas job and a good point to start exploring north of Perth, downside, was very expensive, but also wanted to keep Jodie as happy as possible as she is finding the move a bit tough to get her head around at the moment.

A group meet up sounds like a plan Bev!!

Cheers.....Mark

Hi Mark, we arrive Dec 22nd in time for the festivities, we only booked our flight yesterday, how scary is it all now!

Where did you source your rental from? we are looking at a similar area to start, possibly up as far as Hillarys. Hoping to get a longer term in Duncraig / Carine so we can get our youngest in a particular school. Ourr teenager Jake 17 is going to Taylors college down at WA university

Good luck

I see your from Sheffield, we are from Doncaster so not a million miles away. We fly out on the 13th Jan with another family we have met on here and how excited are we? Do you have jobs to go to?

We have just had an email From the soccer school in which our 14 year old wil be going too, well fingers crossed after he has had his trials. Our eldest who's 19 has chosen to stay here but with her line of work she will slot into a job in oz when she sees the light. Lol x I hope it's sooner rather than later but realistically I think it'll be 4 years x

A good nye, belated BBQ is in order I think, anyone up for it?

Hi, sorry i must of missed this post.

My son, fingers crossed will be going to Woodvale high, Soccer School. I'll know more at the end of the month when we send over his final UK school reports and football references. Everyone seems to be really nice and helpful there and the most important thing is that they email me back within 24 hours so we are not waiting too long for a reply.

Hope this helps

Hi,

I've been in Perth for 2 weeks now and have done quite a nit of looking into car hire, the cheapest I could find was bayswater. They charge $196 flat rate for a small 5 door for a week. Inc insurance.

Can't find better at the moment.

We got our 1 months rental through www.stayz.com.au and yes time is running past bloody quickly now, hardly time to think about it, but exciting as well!!

We found it really difficult to find a rental property for our arrival in December, but have now through a future colleague, not an agent. The weeks are running away very quickly now, I agree!

Hi Hassan,

Our short-term arrangement is in Cottesloe and is really a one-off as a colleague is helping us out. However, Mosman Park seems a good place to be; close to the beach, the river, the shops and the Stirling Highway. We were interested in a couple of apartment rentals there. We were looking at three-bed units which were around $500 a week...not cheap! You may not need that many rooms, in which case the rent would of course be lower. We intend to look around the Fremantle area for a long- term rental, as we have read that it has a lot to offer in terms of culture, the harbour and a lively, friendly social scene. Plus it has good transport links! We are certainly not experts, though....! Hope this helps.

Thanks for your wonderful feedback.....yes you are very right we need only one BR unit/apartment...and would prefer that kind of accomodation with kitchen and seperate bath/wash room.

Please go and settle overthere ....I hope to get max out of your potential experience.

Thanks.

We are newly arrived Poms who couldn't resist that urge to buy when we came 2 years ago... we have just landed a job that is residential so are renting it out from mid Jan 2012 - 4x2 house (new kitchen, bathroom and concrete lining/painting on the inground pool, new safety glass fencing, Green Planet fake grass - can you tell we weren't expecting to move?) with lots of outdoor space (756m2 total h+l) in Karrinyup nor. Primary school is just down the road and has a great reputation - we will keep our children there in spite of the drive. We are going to be advertising it for rental soon but want to go through all the official channels for everyone's sake really. We are at the beginning stages of the process but I can keep you informed if you are interested, just email us on hardwickefamily@live.co.uk if you have any questions about it. We would be looking at long term. Thanks and congratulations on choosing Perth - you will love it!:jiggy:
