:DHi

we will be arriving in Ocean Reef mid July 08. We have a holiday home booked for 6wks while we look for a permanent rental home in or around that suburb. My hubby is currently employed as an Operations Director & is looking at the mo for a job in Perth. I am a p/time pre-school teacher. We have 3 children Alexandra 11, Nicholas 9, & Elizabeth 7. Although we do have a 4th who's due beg Nov!! We invisage similar probs as you with regards to our kids & mates...however, I do believe that it always takes time to settle in somewhere new. Would be nice to meetup sometime when we arrive.

Regards

Jules

Hi There

I've been in Perth 5 years now & STILL miss home. Spent a year back in the UK just recently & i guess i just miss things from there.

Me & my hubby live in Currambine with our 2yr old little girl. We are always up for meeting new people & having a few drinks so maybe we should organise something. Its always awkward to do but if you don't do it then you'll drive yourself mad even more!!!

Stay in touch

We live just off Christchurch Terrace in Currambine. Would be great to organise a get together so we could all have a chat. Ocean Reef isn't very far at all either.

Theres a gorgeous park in Iluka with barbies & a duck pond etc.

Perhaps we'll have to get dates together & organise something.

Hi Claire.

Settling can be so hard, especially if you're a bit older as well as younger. I have been here 12 years now after arriving when I was 23, but there are STILL things I miss about the UK, although I would never go back & live there. I truly still miss the friends I had in the UK. I'm married to a Canadian (no kids) & we don't generally hang out with the pommie crowd (not out of choice - just happened that way) - so I miss the general banter & definitely the humour!

My sister came over from London only a couple of years ago (at age 35 with hubby & two young kids); she lives in Melbourne as finds Perth too boring, but she has taken two full years to finally decide that she is staying.

So many people "to & fro" but never seem to be happy in either place. The grass is always greener.

With the teens it is even moreso about leaving mates & leaving their comfort zone. I guarantee he will love the place within a year.

I think you just have to stop comparing the two places...easier said than done I know!

Things are different here, but they are great here. Just different..

If you want any advice, or help, or company, give me a buzz & I'd be more than happy to chat &/or catch up.

Amanda.

xx
