Guest michelle and fam
hi all, myself my husband and our 2 children jasmine 9 and jack 6 are looking to move to perth, we have our visa we got it last year our initial plan was to go to adelaide which we did on a holiday last year , we chose there because we both had family and thought it would be easier to settle, but it just was'nt for us so we came home and thought about staying, we bought another house and just got back into everything, but we still want to move to oz nothing has changed about the way we feel about this country and really do think our 2 great kids will have a better life in australia. anyway we would really appreciate any comments good or bad about perth, especially the medical care as our daughter has a medical condition, and of course the schools and what suberbs you would recommend, any information would be great thanks , i am sure i will be back with more questions so thanks for now. michelle and fam xxxx
Guest enviromaz
Hi Michelle Perth is a lovely place, the beaches are clean and quite safe though some have strong rip tides which you will need to watch for. I can thoroughly recommend the health care over there as my OH was taken ill last year and had to go into hospital. The treatment he received was second to none- far better than here. As for housing and good estates, it is really a personnal choice and of course down to your budget. Quinns rocks, ocean reef, yanchep area (really good beach with lagoon for kids to swim safely) and Brighton estate in the north are worth looking at. Alternatively if you want to move south, Freemantle, Mandurah or Bunbury. hope this helps maria

Guest Amanda Cook
Hi there I have been here over 12 years now & initially came on a year's working visa at 23yrs old. I was meant to arrive in Perth & travel across country & leave from Sydney; I never left Perth! Everyone is very different though. My sister emigrated a couple of years ago & has been to Perth several times but much prefers Melbourne (but then she spent most her adult years in London). Perth to me has everything, but it is definitely a bit slow to catch up here in terms of shopping hours, Sunday opening, daylight saving - to name but a few! But it has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world with fantastic restuarants, beautiful beaches, parks & fabulous weather. I love the place without question. Most "new" poms do seem to head to the brand new northern suburbs (Butler, Brighton, etc.) but personally I find these areas too "fabricated" and prefer the older suburbs closer to town. I find the health care system here not bad at all, but that contradicts my sister's opinion who, having spent 20-odd years in the NHS as a nurse, thinks we are years behind the rest of the world here in many ways and not up to scratch with the UK. But it really does depend whereabouts you live in the UK of course and also what specialty you're talking about. I'd be more than happy to put you in touch with her if you have any more specific medical questions she may be able to help with. Other than that, go for gold. Your kids will love it. Just be warned though, it is nowhere NEAR as cheap to live here as it was even 10 years ago (food, petrol, housing, etc.). All the best whatever you choose. Guest emi-great
We live south of the river in Mandurah, life down south is good, lovely clean beaches, nice cafe strip in Mandurah & lots of lifestyle choices. You can live close to the beach, on a five acre bush block & everything inbetween in Mandurah. House prices vary greatly in the suburbs but Im sure you will find something to suit you in the area both in terms of type of property & cost. We have a web site which showcases the area with aerial photos & descriptions if you check out the topic pages it should answer some of your questions. If you have specific questions please email me from the site or send me a pm on this site I am happy to help if I can.
