Guest JonCooper
Hi Just needed somewhere to vent some frustration. What is it with timekeeping in Perth? My wife placed her cv onto a jobs board 2 weeks ago and within hours she was inundated with emails and phone calls from prospective employers offering telephone interviews. Great we thought. So we arranged interviews for 7am uk time on thurs and Friday last week plus one everyday this week. The first interview went great 7am sharp my wife gets the phone call as arranged and my wife secures a second interview this morning. Friday comes and my wife wakes up at the crack of dawn to prepare but 7 am comes and goes and no phone call in sight. My wife emails them to see what happened and she gets the reply that the interviewer was sidetracked!! Ok we'll put that down to a bad experience and look forward to the next. This morning was the day of the secondary interview. My wife gets up extra early again to prepare only to receive an email 5 mins before the scheduled interview time saying that the interviewer had been called into another meeting so wouldn't be ringing today!! Is this how things work in Perth? This kind of business doesn't happen with the big companies here in the UK. If these were face to face interviews this wouldn't happen..... Would it? We've just go e from sheer elation at getting the interviews to sheer disappointment frustrated.
phil
That must be a downer. I'd be tempted to look at as "if they can't be bothered to show up to an interview on time, how do they treat staff once they've somehow managed to get them? And do I really want to work for that kind of company?" I'm sure it'll come good in the end! Just keep going!
StraighttothePoint
Yep that's Perth summed up pretty well. We all love it. You get used to it. Does not make it right but when in Rome and all that.
Guest JonCooper
Thanks for the replies guys. I was tired and frustrated this morning. I suppose we are fortunate that my wife has plenty more lined up. I'd read about the WA relaxed attitude but it's a million miles from what we are used to. All good things come to those who wait. I'm just not a morning person!!!

Up early walking / jogging, in work by 8.30am latest means leaving houses at sometimes back of seven and so on. Good luck.
linda@no9
WA isn't that wait a while? To be honest, I can't wait to get over there and adapt the laid back a bit attitude. It'll come in the end I'm sure. xx
