Guest bookworm
Hi Everyone I'm new to this site and my husband has just been offered a FIFO job based on 15 days on and 6 days off. He is expected to travel on his rostered days off and I was just wondering if anyone could shed any light as to how long the travel time will be. I know there may be a huge difference in travelling times depending on the posting but we are just thinking he could spend a considerable amount of his time off travelling. Our heads are spinning at the moment and we have so much to think about but one our main worries is how my husband will cope working away from home and would be interested to hear how others have coped with this. Thanks in advance. Lisa x
verystormy
Hi Lisa Well, it is difficult to say how long the travel time will be without knowing where he is going as it could be anything from an hour to multiple hours. Do you know the site or anything? I work fifo and have done for years. I personally love it and would be reluctant to go back to a regular monday to friday job as i find the break much better quality time. This tends to be true of a lot of guys. It the often the wives who stuggle to settle into it as they feel lonely. There is a group for families of fifo people called fifo families. Google it and you will find meet ups and things. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

verystormy
I would rather by in Karratha than Angola thats for certain. Its not much better than where i am Democratic Republic of Congo. So he already has a visa and job?
