Guest Bren&Tina82
Hi I am hoping you can help us. Me and my partner are looking to move to Oz sometime this year. We lived in Brisbane for a year but are now looking at Perth. The one thing we are stuck on is where we live. When we first get there we will be renting (2-bed house/apartment) until we're more settled. I think I would like somewhere a bit newer, but don't mind somewhere a bit older if we like the area. We would love a suburb which has something going on - we are a young couple with no kids, and like going for a beer/out to restaurants etc. so want to live in a suburb which has a bit of life (but not 2 the extreme of living in the city). Just a couple of places to keep us entertained would be great! We have no preference on which side of the river we live on, but it does have to have good transport links to the CBD as I am likely to work in the city. Brendan is a bricklayer so knows he will have to travel for work. I'd also love to be fairly close to the beach. We have tried to look at information on the net, but we need to know which suburbs to research first! Any information you could give us on would be much appreciated! Guest Philnjools
Subiaco and Northbridge are the best places for going out and close to the CBD. Much of the rest of Perth is quiet with not much nightlife other than restaurants and the odd pub at a shopping centre. Fremantle is also work a look as it is quite lively and has cheaper accommodation to rent. Hope this helps Phil
Scot01
Subiaco, Fremantle, Leederville Mount Lawley (around Beaufort Street) , Northbridge and may be Claremont and Mount Hawthorn.
Guest Bren&Tina82
Thanks for all your suggestions - will have a look at those areas online. Can I just ask another question - is Freemantle too far from Perth cbd to commute to and from every day, or would I need to look for work there?
