Points for DIAC application

We are a family hoping to migrate to Perth on a permanent resident state sponsored visa 176 - the points needed is 65.

The English language requirement scoring is:

Competent - 0 points - at least six on each of the four components

Proficient - 10 points - at least seven on each of the four components

Superior - 20 points - at least eight on each of the four components

it states you need only take the general training test unless otherwise advised by your skills assessing authority.

My question is, my wife is a nurse and had to sit the academic IELTS test, she scored 9 points in 3 components and 7.5 in 1 component which was acceptable for ANMAC, however we need the 20 points for the appliaction and can only gain 10 because of the 7.5 score . Would it be advisable for her to go and sit the general test which she should pass with good marks so that we can gain the 20 points?

any advice would be appreciated.

ANMAC has been submitted, just waiting for letter of determination now - have had correspondance with them and had to send more info on her degree.

They state the general test will do and to gain 20 points you need a score of 8 in each module, you would expect they would allow an equivalent lower score for the academic test to gain 20 points considering the level of the academic test is higher!!!!

do I just need to have started the old visa application before the new process kicks in? or does it need to be submitted and passed/issued?

regards

we submitted the ANMAC about 5 weeks ago - they came back to us with a couple of issues which we have rectified now. Once we have the assessment letter from ANMAC we are going to apply for WA state sponsorship, that doesnt look to complicated! then start the DIAC part after that. so hopefully we will get the process started before end of june. how long does WA take to come back with an answer?

I can see your onto the DIAC stage now Paul, keep me informed how it goes!!!! we are going out there in August for a 3 week holiday, probably spend about 9 days around perth doing a reccie, renting privately and then fly to Melbourne for 4/5 days and after that we were hoping a beach resort for the remainder but adding places like Fiji and Bali are taking it above our budget .

Need to get this General IELTS test booked - for some reason the harrogate test centre has stopped doing them now

she is in palliative care (hospice), we would need to allow my daughter to complete her A levels before we go so approx 2 years. where about in the UK are you based paul? have you done the visa process yourself or used an agent? how was the DIAC part to complete?

Yes done it ourselves how about you? Diac was reasonably straight forward, nothing difficult really.

We are between Derby and Nottingham.

So when you go on holiday it would be great if you had the visa so you can activate it, as you will prob have to come out again before you come permanently to get it activated.

I'd drop Bali and figi from your Hols if it's taking you over budget those are the places you can go on holiday to once you live there!

Hi Stuart, I'm in same situation as youselves. Last IELTS got 3x9 and 7.5, and need the 20points. Unfortunately there is no other way to gain the extra points needed and they will not accept it even though academic. Definately needs to be 8 across all 4 components. I did the academic one also for ANAMC, now doing general. Don't be fooled that thinking it will be a doddle, it is just as tricky, although somewhat easier. Definately practice and practice, you need you book a place asap if not already. London always have places, and as the time is creeping up, I suggest travelling to the earliest available. As for skills assess, mine took 5 months, others slightly quicker, but it is not fast process. But fingers crossed for you all. Shelly:smile:

Hi Stu,

Not been to Perth but have done a lot of the east coast twice. Yes Nicky is going to get job before we go. Not really sure on areas as job will dictate but would like perhaps to be SOR say Port Kennedy, Secret Harbour, Baldivis etc.

I treat lawns for green thumb at mo, (background years ago was horticulture) up until a year and half ago I was self employed had a restaurant which bought everything crashing down- previous to that I was buying and letting property and developing.

what about you have you been before? What your job? Are you wife/partner getting jobs before levying?

Paul.

Never been to Oz before!!!! have friends in Perth and Sydney. Currently work in Health and Safety and NVQ assessor/internal verifier. Wife probably wont start work straight away, help settle kids in etc, I will quite happily look for a job whn I am there, I intend taking over a reasonable amount of money that should keep us going for a year if needed. We intend keeping property in UK initially and renting in Oz. If all goes well we will sell uk when prices are better. you can come over here and treat my lawns for moss  !!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

They post it to you, a little over 2weeks from when they say it's done, shouldn't be long now for you with ANMAC.

All ok with us don't think we have case officer yet but online it says visa processed further and met next to all requirements.

Thought we should have a case officer tbh as think your supposed to get one allocated around 4weeks in.
