Guest Elvio
Say you see a job online on the SEEK website, is sending in your resume to the recruiters email address any good, do they even bother opening the email or have they too many emails to deal with? Should a person just phone them up immediately and say they want to apply for the job?
deanhewitt
Hi Elvio It always helps phoning as recruiters are not always sat behind a desk they spend a lot of time out of the office because they are out looking for work for people to apply for. Guest Elvio
Thanks for the feedback DH, it's very helpful to be able to hear some info from the inside. You mention phoning up, should one do this before or after sending through a resume? Also with the big recruitment agencies, do they get inundated with resumes for a certain position and is it a case of them not having the time to simply open up all these applications? I've always emailed a recruiter to apply for a position, 9 times out of 10, I haven't gotten a reply so I'm just wondering where I'm going wrong and trying to increase my chances of more successful applications in the future. deanhewitt
Unfortunately there are some bad recruiters who have no respect for people so I cannot answer for all. We have been in business 30 years with over 100 offices and if any of my staff here or the UK were reported to us for not getting back to people then they have to answer to us. It will also depend on what your resume looks like, I am sure yours will be fine working in HR but we see a lot that do even have a name on for example which isnt great. As well as receiving resumes we have to retype everyone that is onf interest to us to send over to clients as they want it in a specific formate which is a lengthy process. If there is a specific role you have seen I would call and then send your resume immediately. The only other worst part is waiting for clients to make a decision. I hope this helps, if not fee free to give me a call and we can discuss this further.
