Pete2011
Hi, moving to WA in May, wondered if anyone can offer any advise re-health insurance so we are covered when we arrive, coming out on a RSMS 119.
piccolo
I'm wondering the same for a 457 Pete. Someone mentioned that a travel insurance policy would suffice but I don't know if it needs to be an annual or single trip policy.
Druid
Hi, moving to WA in May, wondered if anyone can offer any advise re-health insurance so we are covered when we arrive, coming out on a RSMS 119. I signed up with IMAN Aus Health back in the UK, cost about £100 per month for a basic family package, when I arrived I sorted out Medicare and cancelled IMAN as it was expensive, then signed up with HBF which gives better cover for half the price, also IMAN is DIAC Approved for the 457 Visa condition 8501 (I think thats the number), but now we have Medicare we satisfy the condition anyway. Be careful with travel insurance, if you read the fine print you will most probably find that unless you are actually travelling you wont be covered, once the find out you are 'resident' you wont be covered unless you get a specific backpackers policy. piccolo
Druid, can I ask why you didn't just sign up with HBF to start with? Do they not provide cover until you're in Oz is that it?
Druid
Druid, can I ask why you didn't just sign up with HBF to start with? Do they not provide cover until you're in Oz is that it? To sign up with HBF you need a Medicare card and they wanted to see the visa grant letter, bank accounts for direct debit etc, at the time I was more interested in satisfying the visa grant condition IMAN was easy and instant and they were also rated by PIP sister website PIO
