Guest Heather & Dom
Hiya, My husband and I have been here about 2 months and we are now looking to meet new friends to have a social life with!! Thought maybe we could arrange a drink somewhere in the city - central for most?? I am 28 and Dom is 34, no little people yet! Anyway, would be great to hear from anyone up for a few drinks and a giggle.

StraighttothePoint
How ironic..... I have just been watching a TV programme about when the West Indians arrived in England in the 1950's how they were totally ignored by the local population. Now 50 years later all you lot want to meet up with fellow English people. Anyone got any Aussie friends yet or has that not worked out either? Guest Allgood Girl
We've got some lovely Aussie friends but alot of our friends are Brits. Unfortunately we find that because a lot of the aussies already have their own circle & haven't been through the whole upping lifes to move across the world they can't quite comprehend how hard it is. It seems that Brits are a bit more open to making friends as they've all been through the same thing. This isn't true in all cases so i'm only commenting on what we've found. Having said that one of my best friends here is a true Aussie but has unfortunately left me to move to Melbourne

Guest Heather & Dom
Hiya, Dom and I have been here a couple of months, I am 28 and Dom has fallen over the 30 mark at 33! maybe we could arrange a meet in town for drinks somewhere - how about friday the 11th at about 8pm?? Am not really sure how to formally arrange a meet up, I guess we just wait and see who replies??
Guest migrate360
If there are lots of poms about then the barrier is there in the aussies. Its not their fault, its just a human thing. Us and them - happens alot in UK (even with the london aussies) We found it easy because we are the only Poms in town! - we are a novelty (and a target for piss taking) and the aussies were open really open to us. However, Friday evening is pandemonium in every bar and it is hard to meet even people you know. How about Thurs 10th at the Moon & Sixpence in Murray Street? The Moon & Sixpence is an English pub with English beer such as Abbot, Newcastle & Old speckled Hen.

BDS calls itself a microbrewery - I was going to try it until now. M&S english keg booze is a little far from the real thing though!

I'll be alone as my wife is back in England - I'll be joining her on the Sat - both back after 2 weeks. I'm close to your combined ages so you might recognise me.
