Guest Little Miss Sunshine
Can anyone help me with my following dilema please? I spoke to our migrate agent this morning about my Working Holiday Visa that i need to go on as i am unable to go on my OH's Pernament Residency Visa as we do not have enough defacto information to prove we live together (we dont). This morning my agent told me that unless i can get 12months worth of defacto evidence together after a year i will be deported out of Australia and back to the UK! I was expecting to be on a 2 year working holiday visa like we were orignally told by him and that has now changed. It didnt help that he wasnt very helpful and very blunt! I have contacted another migrate agency and they have advised me that i will NEED to do a minimum of 3months 'seasonal work' in order to have my visa extended into my 2nd year, gather as much defacto evidence as i can in my first year and half way through my 2nd year apply for a spouse visa. My understanding is if i dont complete this seasonal work i will be deported as my visa wont be extended:sad: I have now bought my visa with another company after not being compeltely satisfied with the agent at all! They have kind of put my mind at ease that its not as bad as it sounds. Can anyone give me any information about what seasonal work entails and where i can find some information out pls?? I will do anything if it means me staying in australia, just a feeling a bit deflated as its not what i was expecting.
ali
My friends son worked on a sheep farm, some people go fruit picking - but it has to be in regional centres Here's a link to the WHV http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/how-the-visa-works.htm Your agent only advised you on the visa - you didn't get it off them - all visa's are issued by the immigration dept. Guest tinkerbell
Can you go over on your own 457 working visa? and then change to PR?
nicolac34
You should also be aware that the 'seasonal work' is not likely to be in Perth - you'll have to go out into the regions to complete it and most people have to stay on the farm where they are working for the three months (as they are in the middle of nowhere). Is this really your only option? Can you not wait in the UK until you qualify for a defacto? It will also be tricky for you to get settled here, as you can only work with one employer for up to 6 months before you have to move on again, which means you'll only be able to work in temporary jobs. What is it that you will be looking to do over here?

Guest Little Miss Sunshine
Hi Tinkerbell Im not sure about a 457 visa, its not been mentioned if i would qualify but i will look into it. what type of visa is it? is it a student visa? I just assumed that was my only option as this is the only visa that has been discussed for me to come over to Aus. Kat ) Can you go over on your own 457 working visa? and then change to PR? Guest Little Miss Sunshine
Hi Nicolac34, I did have a look into the regional work last nite and found out what type of specific work i could be doing. Its not the actual jobs that im worried about, it is the amount of time i would need to stay away for, as you have said you would need to stay for some time in the regional areas. I dont think i could be away from my partner for that amount of time in another country that im not use too! I could eventually apply for a defacto but that would take us so much longer to get there and i would have to rearrange bills to gather evidence with us not living together. I havnt got a set idea what i would like to do when i get there, i am childcare and family support qualifed so i was hoping to use them if i needed too, but i was going to see what my options where once we arrived. Feeling very unsettled ( Thank you for your reply Kat ) You should also be aware that the 'seasonal work' is not likely to be in Perth - you'll have to go out into the regions to complete it and most people have to stay on the farm where they are working for the three months (as they are in the middle of nowhere).
