Guest Ashill's
We got some quotes from the ones our migration agent recommended, but have opted to go with a local removal company who provide a excellent service and use the same shipping companys as the larger firms, I dont know if you have a reputable family company in your area (we are in South Wales) but if you have give them a try. Packing is really stressful though, our stuff is being packed now and put into the container on tuesday! We will be arriving in Perth the end of august and we should get our stuff the beginning of September. (thats if I can decide what to pack!). Hope this helps. Guest justine.brooks
Hi Sorry to but in on your thread, we're from South Wales too. Arriving in Perth first week of August. We're having quotes starting from Monday, for a container. I have heard Fox are very good, but I'll know more by end of next week. Do you have to pack anything yourself, or do they do it for you? I have heard you have to have your shoes steam cleaned is this right? What part of Wales you from? I'm originally from Merthyr but living in Ebbw Vale now. What part of Perth you moving to? Thanks speak soon Justine
ali
We used John Mason and they were great. The company came and packed everything (no way I could have fitted everything into those boxes), not a thing broken on arrival, they even made special packing to protect my daughters dolls house. The soles of any shoes need to be cleaned - they're looking for dirt etc. and all garden furniture and bikes need to be cleaned Ali
Guest The willos
Hi There Please can anyone tell me if you can put food type items in the container? i.e coffee, hot chocotale ,dry dog food spice packets etc. nothing perishable of course Thank you The willos
ali
We didn't and as there are so many things that can't get in you're best to check with your company. I'd had my wedding bouquet pressed and framed - we couldn't take it as it was flowers and the glass may break. I got sent some pkts of monster munch and quavers for the kids, the sender didn't put on the front they were food items, when they came through customs they were opened and checked. To be honest you can get stuff like herbs etc., here - they'd check all items you packed as food, and if it it wasn't allowed in then I'm not sure if you'd have to pay. Guest sioux
I read a thread on Poms in perth. This guy had to pay loads to get a mirror in?? Does anyone know if you can take wooden furniture i.e. table, Framed pictures and mirrors or chest of drawers??? Does it cost loads? Does it have to be fumigated? at what cost and timescales? ali
they don't let untreated wood in, it may have been that the frame of the mirror wasn't treated. We brought pine beds, and also a pine dining table and sideboard without problem They check xmas decorations - no pine cones allowed and also the bottoms of shoes neead to be cleaned and bike wheels and garden furniture, any dirt and they will want to treat it, which you'l have to pay for. Our furniture took 12 weeks to be delivered to our door here in WA. Ali
