Guest Yorkshirepud
Just wanted to say hi. I have used the other site poms in oz a bit before and thats very useful and so is this one! OH is a chef, we have three kids, 6, 3 and 8 months and want to live near Perth! We are just filling in our TRA form and trying to gather all the evidence we need - which is quite stressful! OH is also looking for sponsors at same time, see which comes off first. We thinking of secret harbour or port kennedy - any comments as we actually have never been? Guest Yorkshirepud
You lucky things. Will you be staying when you get there or have you got property to sell here? We have our house on the market but no viewers as yet. Its going to be very frustrating I think! Hi All, Welcome to the site Good luck with the whole visa process. ali
I would say give some thought about where your job may be when you decide where to live and if you want to commute a long distance. There is a train link now between mandurah and Perth which takes about 45min (I think) but if you're in a trade and need your own Ute then travelling in peak times adds alot of time onto your journey. We posted our TRA finally on Friday - YIPEE! It took ages to type everything up - we are applying for a skilled visa, but like you are looking at getting a sponsor at the same time - but I feel that every avenue we try we get refused as employers don't seem interested until we have the visa - so a bit frustrating. Hope you are gettting on ok Sharon

Guest Yorkshirepud
Hi there We are still getting the paperwork together for the TRA - cant believe it takes so long! You must be relieved to have that bit over with! We dont get any reply re sponsorship. There were a couple of agencies who said they had clients wanting to sponsor so we sent a few references but have never heard anything back. Not sure whether the jobs actually existed in the first place. I have seen loads of jobs OH could go for - if we had residency! Which area are you looking at? Guest mackemsok
We are looking to move to Rockingham cause that is where the school is we have applied for. We have friends who live in Rockingham and also in Wannanup (not sure if that is correct spelling). Its hard because we have never been there so are taking a bit of a gamble - and may change our minds when we get there, but in the early days we will try to rent in Rockingham just because our friend can help us settle. I think we will end up waiting until we get jobs before we take the plunge and buy. I was so relieved when the TRA went in the post. Best £150 we have spent in a long while - I am well confused though - have heard some people on here say it can take months for the response and thats before you even apply for the visa - which seems to be taking about 8-10 months. Even more scary the 'for sale' sign goes up tomorrow - not even told some of our friends yet so hope they dont just drop in Not sure what happens in your house - but everything we do ends up being about Oz - like today we been shopping for clothes and we keep saying 'would we wear this in Oz' - its rather funny Hope your weekend was good Sharon X

Our for sale sign went up about three weeks ago and it did make everything seem much more real, especially to our families - we havent had a single viewer though so I can see it being a struggle. Thats exactly what I did the other day! Went shopping in the sales and was going to buy this winter coat from Next but then thought, hold on, I wont need it for very long!! Very strange. HI Kerry, Well the 'for sale' sign went up and we had mixed feelings - I felt sick but I think and hope it was excitment. My mam was emotional and it made me feel really sad - she didn't think we were gonna do it until she saw the sign. Boy what a roller coster I think we have just gotton on! Scott got some good news - he sent his CV off and got a really positive response from the Oral Health Centre (similar environment to where he works in the UK) they are looking to increase staff in 2009 and are interested. That will help loads. Well another lovely weekend so best enjoy it whilst I can before we get too busy with everything take care Sharon X
Guest Yorkshirepud
Hi Sharon I think we are in the final stages of getting OH's references together so fingers crossed TRA can go off next week! I will be glad to get it out of the way. Its very emotional isnt it when it comes to family and friends. I do feel very sad sometimes but my thoughts are still the same - we want to give it a go - so we are going to try. I just wish I could take all my family with us too! That's good news for your OH, the promise of employment is a great relief I bet. I dont know if you get it already, but I just bought a magazine someone else recommended, Australia and New Zealand magazine and its got some useful facts in. I like reading about other people's stories too. Enjoy the rest of your week. Kerry
ali
It's all rather bitter sweet when it comes to family and friends - especially in the latter stages .... you cry 'cos you're upset at leaving everyone yet excited about the new challenges ahead. I swear I kept Kleenex in business my last 2 weeks in the UK Ali x
