Guest Little Miss Sunshine
Hi Cheryl, Great to hear that your thinking about the move to Auz! Me and my OH are emigrating in September so not long to go! He is a Gas/Heating Engineer/plumber here in the UK and has been granted a PR Visa as a Gas Fitter in Auz. Up to now he hasnt applied for work over in Auz as he's found it quite hard to know where to look untill he gets there. I know many people seem to be looking at the mines for work. Are you both qualified to work on domestic and/or commerical appliances etc? have you applied for any visas? Kat x
Guest oocheza
hi thanks for replying, my OH is gas registered for domestic appliances I am just level 2 qualified plumber. We haven’t applied for any visas or anything yet still doing some research and making our minds up to go for it. Would really love to go out there first but OH said it seems pointless just go do it and give it a go. How long did it take you from start to sept to sort everything out. Guest Little Miss Sunshine
Hi Cheryl, The best advice i can give you would be to go on to the Australian immigration website www.immi.gov.au/ and have a look at the different types of visas that would be suitable for you (maybe being sponsored would be an option) as this may help you decide on what would be best for you to do. From start to finish it has taken us 10months on applying to getting visa back. As my OH was applying for a PR Visa (Subclass 176) he had to have an assessment for his trade and had to fill out a TRA form (Trade Recognition Australia). He filled the form out and it came back unsuccessful a few weeks later as he hadnt put in enough detail on the form. To cut a long story short we decided to use an agent as we were completley clueless trying to do it ourselves not to mention stressed! We paid the agent and eventually we sent the TRA form off again and a few weeks later it came back successful which ment we could then apply for the PR Visa. We made the visa cut off date by 1 day!! Every 1st July the rules and regs change for applying for visas....so be aware of that date. My OH recieved his visa in March and since then its been all systems go! As we are not married, i am going on a WHV for 12months and then i will apply for a spouse visa next year. It is a big gamble going out there to live if you have not been before, but i truely believe that the benefits (quality of life, weather, people being alot happier than here) far outway the negatives i.e. being so far from home, missing familiy and friends etc Use this website for all of your questions, reading about peoples adventures from start to finish applying and beyond is so interesting and they can answer alot of things that you may be unsure of. I have been told many time that if i didnt go and let the opportunity pass me by i would regret it for the rest of my life...surely its got to be worth a go?!! Sorry i cant be any more help with websites, as that is the point where my OH is up to too try and find work or have an idea as to where to look, but finding it a bit difficult. Hopefully someone else maybe able to point us in the right direction for work etc Hope that helps, Kat x hi thanks for replying, my OH is gas registered for domestic appliances I am just level 2 qualified plumber.
