Guest jonesii
Hi folks, I arrived in Perth, currently staying on Biction for a short period last friday. I have a great uncle and aunt here but aside that I know nobody here. Are there any fisher folks from the UK around here that fancy meeting up sometime? Cheers Nick

Guest funkysiger
I've been out down to freeo a couple of times since I've been here sea fishing. I'm in the middle of trying to sort a car out which is easier said than done. Once i've sorted that out I'd be up for a bit of fishing. Guest jonesii
Hi Nick I arrive in Wannaup 19/6 and one of the things I want to do is fish a complete novice though ) Mary Hi Mary, yeah cool. drop me a line on here when you arrive and we can 'hook up' (sorry! lol) Don't worry about being a novice, I've spent 25 years freshwater fishing and now have to learn a whole array of new species and how to catch them in saltwater! We might be able to learn together!

Hi Funkysiger, great, let me know when you have a car, I just bought one myself today so the hire car could go back! Where are you located? Guest funkysiger
I'm out at high wycombe mate. I've done a fair bit of sea fishing in the UK but its a lot different out here. Was going to bring my fly fishing gear out with me but got told there wasnt much out here. Where about are you yourself?
Guest Stu
Let me know if I can tag along as well. I've been wanting to try for a while now, a complete amatuer too!
Guest jonesii
I'm in Bicton at the moment but looking to move North of Perth soon - it should only be a 30 minute drive anyway so no isues with that! I'm a now ex carp & Barble angler so I've brought a couple of barble rods should I find some decent fresh water spots, a marker and stiff spod rod for the beaches and a fly rod - apparently there are some trout to be had in some of the WA rivers but quite where yet I'm not sure. I'm up for exploring all possibilites fresh and sea but am only just about to start. The rest of the gear and all of my belongings are in the UK in storage still, there's no point shipping it all over yet I've nowhere to put it! Stu, No worries, happy for you to tag along mate, where are you?
Guest funkysiger
The more the merrier! I borrowed a mates gear off him cosi just sold all mine before coming across. Off to get some this weekend though. I fished down at the E shed bit at freemantle docks. Caught a few wee fish and then just used them as live bait. There is some big fish out there. Just have to be carefull cos the wee bait fish i caught were a bit like perch with the barbs they had on them. Going to maybe try get a bit done this weekend. Thats if i can find transport! Finding a decent cheap car out here is proving to be a bit of a pain in the neck
Guest Stu
I'm in South Perth, so not that far. I need to plan trips around a pregnant wife so I might make some outings, but not others!
Guest funkysiger
SOunds like we could get a perthpoms angling club started up! Its always better to fish with a few folk! Means i wont be the only one not catching!. I've found that just before and after sundown and sunrise is the best time. It will take a wee bit of getting used to different tactics etc but will get there. Gear across here seems pretty expensive but if you get the use out of it its worth it. Better than bloody golf anyway!
Guest jonesii
Sounds good fellas, I've just been out for a couple of hours off Point Walter but it was puffer fish city! I'm moving house tonight to just past Joondalup so I'll have to make a trip over to you guys when we plan going out, it's not far so no problemo. yeah finding a decent cheap car is a contradiction in terms here, it's mental how cars retain their second hand prices - some of the cars I've seen here for ten grand or more would be worthless back in the UK! I also need a bit of saltwater tutoring, my freshwater methods aren't going to get me very far me thinks! Once cars etc are sorted we can arrange to meet one weekend and see if we can't all catch something! Nick
