PomPom
Hi, Does anyone have any idea how long ICAA are taking to process at the moment. I ask as my OH sent his documents on 27.04.12 (via our agent) - they came back with some queries so we sent some more information. They confirmed receipt of this on 14th May, but since then we've not heard a thing. Frustrating as we have our state sponsorship sitting with our agent ready to go, but can't send it without the skills assessment. Finally, I'm sure I read somewhere that State Sponsorship is taking around 3 weeks? Can anyone clarfiy this for me as well? Any comments great or small would be really appreciated. Many thanks to all you.
Guest Jamjar
Someone on PIO recently posted that they got SS in 7 days Good luck
PomPom
I am soooo frustrated. I feel like ripping my hair out! ICAA has had my OH information since 27.04.2012. They logged it on their system as being received on 01.05.2012. They asked for additional information (which was sent very promptly in between the ICAA co-ordinator going sick) and was received by them on 14.05.2012. They didn't provide my agent with an online login until my agent asked for it (1st June). The Case Co-ordinator said our case would be completed by 12.06.12, Today - we have an email from her stating this. We have just received an email from their offices requesting further information - which they have already been sent! My agent has sent them a response, but obviously another day is going to pass before they reply. Can we complain about their conduct? I feel physically sick right now. Time is closing in on us............. are they purposely taking their time? They have sat on our information since 15th May and only today (when we were told our case was going to be completed) have they come back asking for more information (which they already have). I know the whole process to obtaining a visa can be stressful, but is this REALLY how we should expect to be treated?
gobi1000
I dont think you can complain about your process as it generally about 3 months for skills assessment, you will probably have to wait and join the skill select process as time is running out! PomPom
Hi Gobi1000, I've just done a bit of delving on their website. Apparently ICAA state their turnaround is 2-4 weeks - however, if you express via a migration agent, this is substantially reduced to 5 days turnaround. So you can understand my frustration, this should have been completed by now either way
poppops
I had a my SS back within a week and this was last month. It would of been quicker but they could not see my IELTS results clearly, so had to mail that a few times!
gobi1000
sorry PomPom obviously thing are moving quicker as we had to wait 3 months as that seemed the norm for most of the skill assessments.I do understand your frustration but as we have found you cant rush anything to do with the Australian government. I see from your timeline that you only started process in Feb which is why I made the comment of having to do the skill select, you have cut it very fine but I hope you get what you want and goodluck. PomPom
Hi Gobi1000, Yes you're right it is cutting it a bit fine now. If only ICAA has got their finger out on time it wouldnt have been a issue. I am hoping my agent is going to call me today to discuss our options (just in case). I will continue to remain positive, as you've probably gathered I wasn't having a particulary good day yesterday. What didn't help was everyone around me was complaining about the weather, it just highlighted how much I want to be in Perth.
Guest imigrate Australia
Hi PomPom If you do straddle into the post 1 July period, think about approaching the State Sponsorship body to nominate you to WA. Thats would result in an automatic invitation to apply. Also try to maxmimise your points prior to lodgment to rank yourself as highly as possible for selection. Good luck
Guest Jamjar
Hi Gobi1000,I've just done a bit of delving on their website. Apparently ICAA state their turnaround is 2-4 weeks - however, if you express via a migration agent, this is substantially reduced to 5 days turnaround. So you can understand my frustration, this should have been completed by now either way Did you pay for the express service (which is not 5 days but 1 -2 weeks)? Using a migration agent doesnt automatically mean you get the express service and due to the missing information, the processing time starts again. Therefore if you didnt pay for the express service the 4 weeks arent even up yet. Very frustrating I know, hoops hoops and more hoops to jump through. Your agent should also have known about ALL the information needed. That is who I would be frustrated with as you are paying them a fee to do this for you. Good luck http://www.charteredaccountants.com.au/The-Institute/Migration-assessment/Fees-and-processing-times.aspx
PomPom
Hi Phillip, If I understand correctly, are you suggesting I approach the State sponsorship nominating body (don't suppose you know who they are) to sponsor up to WA prior to receiving our skills assessment result? Or are you suggesting we still lodge our SS to WA even if it goes beyond 1st July? Also, my current migration agent has our SS sitting there online ready to go (and have already paid them for this service). I haven't entered or agreed for the agency to act on our behalf for any work to be carried out after this, so would it cause problems or be too late in the day to use another agent for this final leg? I must admit my faith in my current migration agent is very low at present. As you rightfully state, they should have picked up on all of this prior to lodging the assessment - they are the ones that are supposed to know what needs to be sent. Guest dig23
Hi PomPom, Just thought i'd drop you a message as my husband and I seem to be in exactly the same situation as you!! We too are waiting for the skills assessment (it was sent around the same time as yours) we have our state sponsorship sitting waiting to go and also are totally frustrated!!! OH is waiting for his skills assessment from CPA who had it for 2 weeks before telling us that they require some further info only after he got in touch with them to see how it was going!!! I am totally panicking about this now! Anyway it's been a little while since your first message so I just wanted to see how you are getting on? Did you speak to your agent and if so have you had some good advice about how to proceed?? I hope things are now moving and you've finally heard back from them! Good luck. PomPom
Hi Dig23, Well the latest is this.................. ICAA got back to my agent 2 days after my agent told them we don't have the paperwork they need. They responded advising they were happy to accept a personal declaration from my OH (stating what his duties were during the period in question), signed in the presence of a solicitor. Thankfully we have two solicitor friends to hand. So that very night (last Tuesday 19th) we sat down and compiled a desription of duties onto a personal declaration form. The next day we saw our solicitor friend and got the paperwork signed, it went into the post that day special delivery. The agent got it Thursday and sent is via courier on Friday to ICAA (in Sydney). The agent chased ICAA with an email on Monday and they replied today confirming receipt of the declaration and advised they will be finalising his assessment on Thursday and are happy to email the outcome to my agent. So........................ fingers crossed this does actually happen and that this isn't a further delaying tactic. I shall continue to remain positive. PomPom
Hi All of you who have been sharing my elation, stress and grief! Here's the latest..................... we finally had my OH's assessment completed last Thursday as they promised AND for the full 8 years! And to add to this, they even had the decency to send a scanned pdf copy of the assessment to my Agency, which was fantastic as this enabled them to upload against my state sponsorship. So.................. on the same day the state sponsorship was lodged. I have now collated everthing ready for the visa to be lodged and this too is now sitting online waiting to go pending receipt of the state sponsorship. My agency tells me they are taking 5 working days at present to process. So................ fingers, toes and anything else you can think of crossed it comes back by Friday at the latest and we can get the visa lodged before Saturday 30th June (D-Day)! Phew, this really has been a rollercoaster. I'll keep you posted.
Guest dig23
Hi PomPom, I have been meaning to post on here for a few days after your first msg but just hadn't got round to it! Anyway that's such great news you've got your state sponsorship lodged. Again we are very similar - hubby's skills assessment came back last week (such a huge relief!) and, after waiting for the official letter, our state sponsorship was lodged yesterday! Yay! So we are one day behind you so keep in touch as it would be great to know how you get on, how long they are taking etc. Everything that possibly can be crossed is so lets hope we can both get this wrapped up by fri!! Good luck again!
