Guest tezzzaaah
Hi Guys, This is my first time on this discussion forum. Looking for any info (bad or good) on living in Perth WA. I have a wife and 2 young sons (18 months and 8 years). Would like to here from similar people who have gone through the same situation and how they adjusted to the australian way of life, gained new friendships etc. Please reply soon. Regards. Terry. ali
Hi and welcome to perth poms. We moved here in Jan 2007 with children then aged 7 and 11. We all started work/school within a month of arriving and I think this led to us being settled very quickly as we got into a normal life routine rather than holiday mode. The kids love it here and we feel more relaxed than what we did in the uk. We accepted invites whenever they were offerred, we've started to develop some friendships although this does take time, and I kind of miss having the friend who you could always go round for a cuppa and a natter with .... but that'll come. It is a bit of a whirlwind when you arrive and you don't seem to really stop for several months, particularly if you're in a short term rental then having to move into a longer term rental or buying a house - lots of upheavels. Good look with the move Ali
Guest hodges
Hi we are looking to come out June 09. I will be studying in Murdoch Tafe, last resort! Not sure where to live yet like the areas around Murdoch and local suburbs but also like North Perth, Warwick etc. Hard to judge until we get there, any recommendations on good suburbs would be welcomed. We have 2 girls who will be 6 and 3 when we come out so one will start school and the other day care of some sort. All very exciting and lots to investigate. I am 31yrs old, married and have 2 small girls aged 4 & 2yrs. We are mid-end stage of the visa process and hope to be arriving in Perth by June 09. Currently we live in essex, I am a nurse and my husband works for 'ford' motor company. Just wanted to say 'Hi' especially as we both have 2 small children and will be landing in a new country around the same time. It would be good to chat and swap questions and thoughts. xxx Michelle

Guest Kym_and_James
I've always lived in Perth but my partner is from UK. He is missing quite a few things about the UK. He misses cheap motorsport which is a passion of his (the motorsport but, not the cheap), travelling to Europe for the weekend, and his mates and family. I also miss travelling to Europe and my friends as I lived there with him for 2 years. We hope to move back there sometime at least for a while and do more travelling, once we've paid the house off here. Perth will always be my home but I love the UK. I love the vast history there, but I am studying history so I am biased. Good side here though, I love living 15 mins walk from a stunning beach and having the weather to go and enjoy it after work for most of the year. I enjoy the stunning contrast in environments here which does also make for a very interesting holiday. I like that we in Perth now have daylight savings and fingers crossed it stays that way!!
