Iloveoz
My OH is a technical safety engineer in the oil and gas industry. We are moving to Perth in August to seek sponsorship. Is any one aware of the demand for oil and gas engineers and the likely hood of getting sponsored, fairly quickly?! We have heard the industry is booming. Applied for countless amounts of jobs from the UK but no luck so decided to get ourselves out there with the hope of that making all the difference. Any advice would be much appreciated. We cant decided if we are mad or not!! x
Debbiewilk
Do it! My OH is offshore and we are trying to make the move, we are waiting till he gets a sponsor first before we progress with visas etc. I did notice that a lot offshore trades are on the state sponsorship list online and after 1st July the points goes down from 65 to 60 point required although you do need financial backing. Best of luck!
Philpom
Have a look at http://www.jobsearch.gov.au/resourcesectorjobs. It's been set up to try and get locals jobs first, but you never know your luck

You cannot come on a holiday visa and seek work and if immigration find any evidence of this on arrival they will turn you back.
Guest abzjap
Hey there, we have just returned from Perth and have both landed jobs in the O&G sector. We managed to arrange interviews prior to going out and my OH managed to get sponsorship . avoid agencies as they cost so much most companies dont tend to use them go direct to companies he would like to work explaining when you are coming over and they may be more interested in seeing him opposed to a cv from the other side of the world. My OH had been applying for loads of jobs but nothing then as soon as we said we were coming over for another visit he managed to get 2 interviews and another after he had received a job offer. Good luck and yes the O&G sector is very busy but they are still being fussy on who they take on.
