fifi69
I know Oz is asleep and any normal people are out and about doing their Friday night thing but just wondered if there was anybody to chat to. This week has been totally mad. Shipped our stuff on Wednesday (used sevenseas move cube, amazing what you can cram in there). Oh left yesterday and landed in Perth 10.30am uk time today. Went with Emirates, not sure yet about 2nd leg but Manchester - Dubai he was on A380 and had a row of 4 seats to himself. Youngest daughter went to Spain yesterday also, she is having a great time by all accounts. Eldest daughter had her last college exam yesterday so today is nowhere to be seen (and why not, dont blame her). Today i handed in my notice at work. Hopefully flying out 26th July. Too many people in tears at work when i told them for me to cope with. House has couple who want to rent it asap. Sat here all on my lonesome with this major move coming up. No darling Hubs here to help me. Anybody got any words of wisdom to help me thru the next few weeks
JaynBev
Fifi - its 6am in Perth right now & my dodgy back has woken me up so sat in the cold with a coffee for warmth & still love this place. Not long now till you get here, trust me it's worth it, it took us 5 years of planning & stressful days to get here & we haven't looked back. One thing we did in our last cpl of weeks is went round all the places in the region we grew up / lived in and took artful shots etc, did the tourist things - it made us feel like we were vistors there & then when we got on the plane it partly had the feeling of flying home from a holiday so when we landed in Perth we actually said "Ah home" It was amazing to see places as a tourist that we knew were there but never visited when we considered ourselves locals. Might be something fun you can do to fill the time. Also get on youtube etc and watch any vids from Lonely PLanet / National Geo etc on WA, we did and found it was great to see these things & remind ourselves where we were going. If you are over towards the end of July, check out the Margeret River Gourmet festival, I think its a month or two later but could be something to look forward to. http://www.showmeperth.com.au also has some great info on upcoming events :-) All the best enjoying the rest of your summer showers. So where are you living (looking for any friends??) We're living up in Joondalup currently & always happy to make new friends. We've been ere 5 months now & love exploring the region, so much to do n see. We've been to Margaret River twice and the food and wine is amazing. If you like coffee check out Yahava in MR, if you like choccie theres the Margaret River Choc Co, Providore does some amazing sauces, oil, marinades etc Everywhere has free tastings so its great. I've had a dodgy back for about 7 yrs and some days it decides I've had enough sleep and thats pretty much that - lol. You'll be with the OH soon, when we came over Bev had to go to Sydney for a weeks induction, we'd been here just 8 days and she had to go, timing wise it was such a hard thing to have to deal with, the timezone difference of 3 hours meant we really struggled to talk as she was almost going to bed when I got home from work & she was going to work at 4 in the morning for me. Its worth it thou and when you get over give us a shout, we'll see about showing you some of the places we're in love with. We try to do something new each weekend & so far it's been incredible what we've found. cheers James
