You might be able to find an employer if go over on tourist visa?? But if you get stopped at immigration and they feel that you are not a genuine tourist your visa could be cancelled at the border, as they check all your bags etc. A 457 visa is a Temp Resident visa - and you are not entitled to anything - you will get schooling if in WA - some other states, you are required to pay school fees. You will not be entitled to Family Assistance
ali
As DyLeb says, you're not supposed to come over on a tourist visa with the intention of looking for work because it's a tourist visa. People do it and don't get caught, remember it is a risk and if you get refused entry you may get a ban on returning to Australia for a few years on any type of visa. Exhaust the sponsorship route of applying from the UK. Look on seek.com at jobs and start applying and say in your cover letter that you are looking for sponsorship. Remember too, that sponshorship is when they can't find an Australian to do the job so sometimes there isn't a lot of jobs going in certain areas if the there are people already in Aus trained and applying for the same job.
