Guest Tony & Liz Elliott
Hi there, My OH has been accepted onto a roofing course which commences 13th October and we have our flights booked to Perth for 19th September, however, the channel we were going through to get the visa has not worked out and so we have just submitted an application for a student visa, obvioulsy this seems too close for comfort - does anyone know how long a student visa application takes to process? Yours a very panicky person!
Guest hodges
HI Have not applied for student visa yet as not going to start course till June 09. Have heard they are very quick though, so fingers crossed for you. Where abouts in Perth are you studying? Michelle
Guest Tony & Liz Elliott
Hi Michelle Its my hubby Tony who is going to learning roof tiling - its the only way we have been able to get in as neither of us has a trade! I work in Accountany and have a qualification but am not a qualified accountant (dont have any desire to be either!). I dont have any work to go to yet so am hoping to come by something fairly quickly when we arrive in September. What are you going to be studying when you arrive Liz
Guest hodges
Hi Liz We are in the same boat, hubbie in Finance but not qualified so i am going to do horticulture course, quite like gardening and 2 years is a long time if your doing something you dont like. We are then hoping that when we get there he will possibly get a job sponsor and maybee 457 visa, but if not we have the horticulture qualification as a poss way in for pr and I can work in that. All still a bit of a gamble but the thought of re studying here and then going out takes too long, i would rather do it there. Just have to get the house sold now. I will be studying in Murdoch which is south of the river but not sure where we are going to live yet? So planning to come out later in the year without the kids and suss out some areas and schools. Do you have any children coming with you? Michelle
Guest Tony & Liz Elliott
Hi Michelle, Gosh its all so scary, but I think its such a better life over there! have you visited Perth before? we went for 3 weeks last Christmas and stayed with my Cousin - I fell in love with the place and think the quality of family life is so much better! My son is 5 and he is coming with us, but I have a step-son of 13 who is staying in the UK with his Mum which is going to be heart-breaking. However, I have taken a 12 month career break from work and we are renting our house out here in the UK, so that we have a fall back should we require it. Looking forward to going - praying that the visa arrives in time, but am also incredibly nervous and very emotional at the thought of leaving close family behind. Thanks for your correspondence Michelle. Liz x
Guest hodges
Well good luck, let me know how you get on, and fingers crossed you will be selling the house in a couple of years and making it a permanent move. I too will be taking a 5 year old and 2 year old so a better life for them in the long run. Michelle
Guest Tony & Liz Elliott
Michelle, Is your husband AAT qualified? when we were first looking into going to Perth I was informed that AAT was not recognised, I spoke to someone the other day who informed me he thought it was - anyway if you put aat australia on the internet it gives you details of studying over there etc - just a thought for you! Thanks Liz x
