Guest colin ambler
Hi all. Can anyone help us. I am moving to perth in Sept but on my own at first. The reason for this is our little girl who is 9.5 half years old is starting private school in Bedfordshire this month and the trip for me is to get set up in Perth and check out all the options before they come out for three weeks at xmas time. To cut a long story short i need to find out as much infomation on Private schooling for girls as possible. Also the areas that we may have to move to so we will be in the correct catchment area Can anyone recommend anywhere and give us some idea on fees (etc). My partner and her daughter are looking to move out early next year once i have everything in place. It would be fantastic to meet up with some familys with young children who are in schools or (Private schools) to get first hand experiance. If any one is interested they are due to arrive in Perth 12th Dec and are staying till beginning of Jan. Regards all Col
Guest caps
You don't say if you want all girl school or not. Catholic schools in WA are private and fee paying - about $4000 a year so not very much. There are very few single sex Catholic schools for Primary school kids excpet Iona in Mossman Park, though that might also be only High School! Other Catholic ones - Santa Maria - in Fremantle area, Mercedes in the city centre. The main group of all girl schools are in the Western suburbs - the corridor of land from the city down to Fremantle. There are three main ones there - PLC - Presperterian Ladies College, MLC - Methodist Ladies College, and St Hildas (Anglican). Those three have the best reputation and are also the most expensive - about $12-15,ooo a year. If you want to live near by then you'll be pushing it to find anythign under $1.5 million. I have known people who have driven 45 mins to get their daughter to school there though. In the Northern suburbs, St Mary's in Karrinyup is the only female school - it;'s kindy to Year 12 so goes all the way through and has a good rep as well, not quite as high as PLC/MLC and St Hilda's. You'd have to look on the web site for fees. The other one I can think of is Perth College, south of the river but not too far south. The other problem you will have is actully getting in! Mnay of these schools have children's names down at birth. For the Catholic ones, your best bet is first to be a Catholic, and for high school, send her to a Catholic feeder school. Don;t hink there are nay private all girl schools up i Joondalup area or down in Mandurah - which is where many of the POMs end up. Hope that helps!
