Guest Di and Ste
Hi Just wanted anyones opinion really, especially those who have immigrated with older children. We are hoping to migrate in 2 years by that time my sons will be 9, 14 and my daughter will be 2 and a half. My question is will this be a difficult time to move for my eldest son due to exams ect at school? In the UK he would be choosing his options at this age and I am worried that us travelling when he is 14 will ruin his education. he will be in year 12/13 when we move over Can anyone give me any advice please Many thanks Diane xxxxxx
Guest THE LAINGS
hi we are hoping to go if visas come in july, we will have a 12 year old, a 15 year old and a 18 year old. there is never a right time to go ie school wise so we are just gonna go and if we have to sedate kids till they realise we did this for them too., that is what we will do. a friend who lives there had trouble with her kids not wanting to go, now he wont even visit england. so i would try to chill out about it and worry more about the spiders etc aaaaaah hope this helps. ali
Hi, my children were slightly younger but are not 9 and 13. We'd managed to secure a rental prior to our arrival and therefore had an address and were in contact with the local school. The school were great and set up a pen-pal to exhange emails with my daughter who was 11 at the time. Via msn she was introduced to some of her new classmates and on her first day felt as if she 'knew' some people, although they'd never met. We arrived in January, so that they could start school at the start of the school year, my daughter has since said that this was great for her, as it meant everyone was starting a new class and year and the focus wasn't upon her as the 'newbie' quite as much.
