Health Visitor ; Child & family Community Nurses

Recommended Posts

Guest MUMOF4

Hi everyone. I am a Health Visitor in the UK and am travelling to Perth late October to have a look around with my family, prior to applying for a permenent resident visa (Hubby is main applicant). During my visit i would like to arrange to meet with a clinical lead of Child & Family Community Nurses to discuss future career opportunities and to get an understanding of the service in Australia. I have contacted WAGO UK office and they couldnt help as they deal with hospital nurses. If anyone could recommend who i can contact or an email address that would be great x

Hi mum of 4 just read your thread and I am a specialist nurse at the moment but still bank as a health visitor and went to brisbane and sydney in dec/jan and looking to find he post and wondered how you have got on? Did you enjoy Perth? I would work in any state to be honest. I did the same as you and trawled the net for answers but to no avail. Did you find out who to contact? Or are you there?

I'm new to this forum & wanted to say hello. I'm also a health visitor & have only recently sent my documents off to ANMAC for assessment. I'm hoping to move to WA with my hubby & 2 kids on a 190 visa. Time is against me due to my age so this is my last chance. I'm worried work prospects within a similar field will be hard to come by as I only seem to see jobs within rural areas advertised. Have either of you had any luck finding child & family health jobs?

Hi Cath.madd.

What was the outcome of your discussion with the lead nurse? Are the job prospects hopeful or is it a bit like here where a lot if people want to work in the community?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Hi bigmac

it is not straight forward to get work as a child and family community health nurse in Perth but there are jobs out there. You can apply to join a recruitment pool which offers part time, full time etc and when permanent jobs come up they work down a list of people employed on the pool. The role is more clinic based except for the birth visit and it appears more sparse but that may be because the country is so big. If you wanted to work rural the pay is really good. I will be looking around Perth metro area and once registered with aphra will apply to the recruitment pool. Hope this helps :))
