cainyp
Myself and my family will be arriving in Perth on the 8th october for 3 weeks,We are validating our Visa. We are staying near Joondalup? If anyone can tell us any places to go it would help loads. This is the first time Pippa 14, Katie 12 and Daniel 8 have been to Perth and I want to make it as great as possible so it will help them settle when we move in at the begining of 09. Hope to speak soon Paula
Guest guest1337
Hello, hillary's boat harbour is a great place for kids and adults, lots to do, lots cafe's, pubs, shops, snooker and pool, boat trips from there to Rottnest island and whale watching. It' approx 15 minutes from Joondalup by car. Perth zoo in the city is good, Yanchep national park is great, has Koala's! Caversham wild life park which is in Whiteman park (Near Ellenbrook) Mandura it nice to visit, we went last summer and saw dolphins! they swam along side our boat and were jumping out of the water, showing off!!! We live in Clarkson, about 8 minutes from Joondalup if you want to meet up sometime, get in touch, this should be a good start and should anywhere else come to mind will let you know. cainyp
Hi Andy and Stacey, Thanks for your reply. Have you heard of Adventure Wold, Theme park? I have been looking online at places to go with the Kids. I visited Hillarys last year when me and Paul visited. Its one of the place we will def be takeing the kids. It was beautiful. I would love to meet up when we arrive. It will be nice speaking to someone who lives in Australia. How long have you lived in Perth? How did you go on missing everyone, is it easy to make friends? We should have moved in March this year, but have been unable to sell the house. House sales are at an all time low in the UK at the moment. But we are going to move at the begining of 09. Speak to soon Paulax
Guest guest1337
Hi, yes we've heard of adventure world, it's closed over winter and not sure when it reopens? It's in Fremantle we think! We've been here 15 months now and have just bought our own house, so busy decorating etc, etc!!! Well you do miss your friends and family it's natural, but never lose sight of why you wanted to leave in the first place, and remember how jealous all your friends and family are!!! Friends, well once you start working it's pretty easy, there are so many poms here already you'll probably find someone out here you went to school with! There isn't the same "pub culture" here as they are expensive and people on the whole prefer to have BBQ's and socialise at home. Plus you should meet other parents when the kids go to school, half of which will be English anyway, in our experience! Let us know when you arrive and we'll arrange a meet up? Thanks Andy & Stacey
Guest Allgood Girl
Hi Paula Lots of things for the kids to do & they will probably become very outdoors people. I've been here 5 years although we'd been a few times before. I found it hard in the beginning but went back to UK for a year & now I'm completely loving it. It is hard & i'll always miss things back home but I've got my own family now to think about. Anyway we live next door to Joondalup so if you fancy a meet up get in touch. We've got friends staying with us at the moment who have just emigrated & they have a 14 year old who is struggling so would be good to get her together with your daughter. Anyway good luck with things & stay in touch Laura

cainyp
Hi Laura, That sounds great. It would be great for my daughter to speak to someone her own age about the move. I will mail you our contact details when we are leaving the UK. Cant wait to get some sunshine. It has been the worst weather here in the UK since 1912 they say. What is the weather like at mo, do I need jumpers?? Paula

Guest michelle
Hi all, My kids are alittle younger, aged 4yrs and 2yrs. We plan on moving out in may-june 2009, depending on the visa's. Would be great to start talking to people who are already living in perth, or who are about to move to perth. My biggest fear is that I want have any friends.... I know everyone is in the same boat, and I know it will be hard. I have a big and lovely group of friends here, so I worried that 'the lack of friends' will be too hard for me..... I am 32yrs old, married with 2 small daughters. I am a cancer nurse. Am medium built, blue eyes and a wicked irish sense of humour.... My husband is 33yrs old and currently works for 'Ford' motor company as a 'maintance engineer'. He is quite by nature but has a very sarcastic 'english' sense of humour. Both of us are house proud and very hard working. Do our profiles appeal to anyone? Do you think we will fit in? Thanks x

But I am still unsure as to weather or not I am going to work. We are going out on my VISA, so I will register. But as my kids are still quite small, and I know childcare isn't cheap. I loved 'st john of god' hospital, it was lovely. Have you got a job yet? Do you know what area you are moving into? Keep in touch, it would be good to have a friend! I take it you're coming on the 175 visa? I wish I could come over and not work! Thats what my hubby will be doing. We are looking at Rockingham in the south or currambine/joondalup in the north. How about you?

I wish I could come over and not work! Thats what my hubby will be doing. We are looking at Rockingham in the south or currambine/joondalup in the north. How about you? Hi Fiona, We also liked the north of Perth. Quinns Rock, Kinross, Butler, Clarkson and yanchep. We will be renting for about the first year and then plan on building... Well, that's the plan anyway. Are you on facebook? Do you have a email address? It's good to chat to people who are about to make this massive change. We will encounter the same things and probably have the same hurddles/worries and concerns. How far are you into the whole process? House sold? Flights booked? Are you having a leaving party? We can't decide if it's a good or bad thing! How does your kids/family & friends feel about your move? Our's are divided. Some can see why we want to move, yet others can hardly talk about it! I also have a younger brother (26yrs), no mum or dad - just the two of us, and he may or may not make the move. If he doesn't it will break my heart! All these problems and we still want to go, It must be fate!!!! Sorry, millions of questions! I get carried away. I am so excited but my friends are 'fed-up' with all of my OZ talk, so I go on & on & on when I can talk about it all. Chat soon Michelle
Guest brydenbunch
Michelle, we have been here 8 weeks, you'll love it, our kids (6 and 2) have both settled in real well.. We are in Quinns Rocks, moving to our first home in Jindalee at end Oct. We have been renting, but the market is good if you can buy now, we got a good deal and amortgage in 48 hours, can recommend a good mortage agent. We only knew 2 people in Ocean Reef, but have made friends real quickly. Nothing to worry about. We too left a real big group of friends and all our family (both sets of parents and brothers and families too) but life is what you make of it, so enjoy. Hope it makes you feel better !!
