Guest misscathcart
We bought a Dale Alcock display home in Port Kennedy in 1999, before prices went crazy. We are English and lucky enough to spend a few months there every (UK) winter. We didn't know anything about the area but were delighted when we discovered just how nice it is. I cant help with schools etc but I can tell you a little about the coast. I love windsurfing and boating and unlike the beaches NOR there are many different types. Secret Harbour has ocean swells running in so brilliant for boards, yet all of Warnbro sound is protected by an outer reef so great for swimming (if you dont mind sharks) Safety bay is one of the best windsurfing places in WA, while Shoalwater has islands and lots of sheltered water. I think Waikiki and Shoalwater are well established now and so there isn't a lot of new building going on, Secret Harbour is still expanding and seems to have a large price difference between the seaward and inland side of Warnbro sound avenue. The newer homes on the inland side seem good value but probably like most new builds they are packed close together.
gobbyjock
Waikiki is an older burb, though you have a new estate (Harrington Waters) on the inland side of Warnbro Sound Avenue) the older houses tend to be on bigger blocks.I have friends who live on Harrington Waters - all very happy there, I know others who live beachside Waikiki, again very happy. Give me a break!
So many suburbs so little time . None of the areas are horrible, be rest assured some have a higher crime rate that others so that might be worth looking at. Also school league tables, may help and the big one for us was place of work, commute etc. I started out in Secret Harbour but have now moved to North Mandurah, I have many friends who are still very happy there. I have friends right the way from Rockingham down to Erskine south Mandurah and they all love where they live. I think its a good idea not to make your mind up but to have a good look when you get here.

xclairex
Heya guys... I am a real estate agent in Secret Harbour and would like to point out that if you cannot decide between the two... Rockingham or Mandurah, than why not try Secret Harbour, this suburb is slap bang in the middle of the two and has its own facilities which include; two primary schools, one high school, a decent local shopping centre, a surf club... As it is on the beach, its own trendy bar The Whistling Kite, a lessons only baths, a sporting complex on its outskirts... Larkhill Sporting Complex, its own vets, good bus routes, plenty (if not the most) of English settlers and, to top all that, an outstanding golf course flowing through the western side of the suburb with its own club house/bistro. Wow, did I forget anything in that lot? Lol. If you would like any more info, please PM me and I would be more than happy to help out where I can Take care Claire
glenvin
Hi Lots of suburbs to choose from Lakelands and Meadow springs are nice with good schools for all ages and bus route from both suburbs to the train station. I have had a couple of friends who left Secret Harbour as it was getting a bit cliquey as lots of British migrants live there but each to their own as it is quite a nice looking suburb with lots of facilities, the only advice is don't eat in the local bar The Whistling Kite as everything tastes the same ........bland. I have only driven through Shoalwater and Wakiki and the coastal route is very picturesque but some of the properties look a bit dated. Its best to have a really good look when you arrive as what one person thinks is a nice area maybe not what is in your mind
