Guest annamichelle
Hi! My husband and I are migrating within next year and want some guidance as to where we ought to start in Perth! Need to be fairly close to the city but would like a beachside location to live in! Also we would like to be able to go to some cafes, bars and restaurants without too much of a drive. Any ideas????? Guest Kym_and_James
Depends how much you've got to spend I guess. We live near the beach and are first homebuyers so the only place we could afford is Rockingham. About 45 mins drive from Perth but 30 mins on the train (I work in the Perth and commute here everyday). There are loads of other places on the ocean to live but I like mine. It has lovely quiet beaches as most of the day trippers from Perth miss us out for Mandurah (further south) and I have the place to myself in the evenings when I go for a walk. Can't say that for the beaches closer to Perth. I love where I live, but I've always lived east before (Belmont nr airport) and the lifestyle down here is much nicer. Maybe that's just my attitude has changed since we finally bought a place.

Guest The.Colebecks
Hello & Welcome to Perth Poms I think you have to visit an area yourself to know whether its right for you or not - one persons 'ideal' is most certainly not going to be ideal for everyone. Get yourself a good map and target the areas which seem close enough to the ocean for you, drive around those areas and visit real estate agents there. Chat to passers by; people walking dogs etc, and get their views on living in that area. Seeking local knowledge is the key to finding the right (and not so right;) ) places to live. Good luck.
