Question on 475 visa

I have been very fortunate to be granted a 475 visa for Perth and I plan to enact my visa next June 2013 a couple of weeks prior to the deadline.

I know that under the three year temporary visa conditions i must live in Oz for two years and work for one year, before I can apply for permanent residency.

Unfortunately my personal circumstances have significantly changed and I am now living in the Caribbean and on the way to becoming single after eight years of married life.

Does anyone know whether they would class the two year qualification period as 730 days out of a possible 1095 in which you must live in Oz? My reasoning is that if I enter say June 2013 and wait until June 2014 to make the move to Oz it doesn't allow much wriggle room to leave Oz for family issues.

I think that I am going to have to make a very difficult decision at some point next year but would like to know what my options are first. :)

You have 3 years from the date of first entry to try to make the requirements for the 887 visa.

If you need more time you can apply for the 489 renewal - ($260), this can give you a further 48 months to meet the requirements.

This is most helpful as I just wanted to make sure that I knew my options. I do want to start my new life in Oz as quickly as possible but I feel obligated to spending at least a year/year and a half here first as my current post is difficult to fill.
