blr2wa
Hi All, My husband has been in perth, and is still looking out for jobs, he is into finance and reporting, he would be willing to take up any office jobs as well. If any of you guys, would give us some leads, that would be great. Have already tried the jobsites, with no luck, so far. Thx,

awildsmith
Guys..waiting for couple of responses:ssign16: How about contract / temporary jobs...looking at anything, just to hang in there, till the job market opens up.. Thx Hi there I see that this had been quite a quiet thread and also that it is about 10 days old now. I hope that by now your hubby has some leads or helpful info. It definately is a very quiet time for work here in Perth and we are in a bug lull. There seems to be a lot of people looking for very few positions. Definately keep looking on all the websites mentioned here in other threads and keep all your options open. It is definately hard to break in to the Perth workforce as it does seem to be a bit like who you know not what you know! We moved 2 years ago and it took me 5 months on arrival to find anything and then mid last week I was made redundant, so I am starting that heart rendering process all over again. I worked in Procurement for the Oil and Gas industry where their is definately a major lull at the moment. I guess you may need to be very flexible for a while too and take something that you may not have looked at before. I am not sure that I have been very helpful but it is most certainly very tough out there right now. I think in the UK the state of commerce, unemployment gets talked about openly but my feeling is that over here to a certain extent it gets hushed up and kept out of the media. Good luck with it all. If it hasn't already, then something will certainly came along.
nicolac34
Just wanted to say you're not alone, my OH has been looking 4 months now and he's been trying to apply for anything and everything - temping, office jobs, stuff he could have done straight out of school.... nothing. Just crossing fingers and toes something will happen in the New Year.

blr2wa
Hey Guys, thanks for the reply. Definitely, lot many people would have gone through this. Its mind wrecking for them as well as for their family. My husband, is now planning to shift to Mandurah, looking for Accommodation + Job. What would really benefit all is that, if people could share their experience- as how they got their job. Also most importantly, if they have any openings in their organisation/Company, they could post the same here, as most of it would be through references. This is my opinion, as we are new to this place, these things would really be of great importance. Thx
awildsmith
The only helpful thing that I could suggest is just not to be too choosy. Do something that you maybe never thought that you would. Perth is definately hard to break into for a lot of people (definately that way for me). As I said before I am looking again now but before I got my job I was a waitress and a carer as well as doing a voluntary job in a community charity kitchen. Put yourself out there and max out every opportunity. This is notoriously the worst time of year as well as a general lull. I did hear that poss the post office might have some work (nights I heard) with the sorting etc. Don't know anymore about it though. Otherwise you may find xmas and new year work in the larger shops. Basically It seems to be easier to find work when you have work. Wish that I could help more. Good luck
