smilingsenthil
Finally, we were there !!! Visited Perth with family and stayed for just a week. Covered the CBD, Kings Park, Rockingham, Swan Valley, Cottesloe Beach, Fremantle Markets etc. Stayed in Joondaana (near Mount Hawthorn). It was a great place, calm and quiet compared to Singapore. Wonderful climate at this season of the year. Found great restaurants as well. However, seems like I a strange concern if somebody could help. The house-flies seem to be following us everywhere. Even inside the house, the flies were disturbing us. It followed us to Swan Valley as well. We need to keep our house doors (including the sit out doors) closed. However, when we went to beach side areas like Fremantle, Rockingham etc, the flies disappeared. So based on this, shall we conclude that it is advisible to stay near the beach ? Is it a seasonal behaviour or is it always like this ?
fifi69
Hi You fitted a lot in on your weeks hols didnt you lol. Sounds like you enjoyed it Before moving here i had read about the fly problem, it seemed to be that they come for about a month (Nov was mentioned), were really bad and then moved on. I cant say i found that to be the case, for about two weeks around the end of Nov/beg Dec there seemed to be an increase but nothing too bad. Yes there was the odd occassion when out walking you would have to do the "fling the arms about" dance to get them away from your face. There was only one night when we couldnt eat outside because of them. The strange thing was there seemed to be more people complaining of them who lived NOR, we live SOR so it could have been an area thing. Im not sure if living near a beach helps, we live quite near Freo but i know people who have had trips to Rottnest ruined by the flies. Im happy to put up with a few flies for a couple of weeks of the year, it doesnt dampen my enjoyment of living here
smilingsenthil
Thanks for the explanation. I have no problem if it is a concern only for few weeks in a year. We were worried if that is the case always. Anyone who live in NOR can help with their inputs please....
