Recommended Posts

Guest ceyclaire

Hi everyone

I'm also a community nurse of 3 years.. I was actually due to come ova in Oct last year but my hubby got cold feet so we put it off..my hubby was born oz so I have a spouse visa which I need to activate and in fact will be arriving in Perth 1st May.. We are staying in Madora Bay and we shall be looking at all different areas, jobs, houses etc no hopefully it will change hubby's mind to make the move ova.

I was offered a job in community with Silver-chain but they also wanted me for their hospice as I have hospice experience too.. I will be looking at hospital posts too whilst ova.

I convene interview panels and regularly where UK applicants fall down and down get shortlisted (for MH at least) is that they don't address the selection criteria - they just send the CV. Now the panel will try to find the information in the CV but there isn't enough detail. I put a link up a while ago about applying for jobs in WA health and tips to help.

Russ is a mental health nurse and has been for 10yrs, this has all been in elderly, so will hopefully be looking for similar in Perth. I'm an o.t tech in elderly care but I know I won't be able to be one in Oz as its different and I think you need qualifications, I have an nvq3 but you can't carry that over.

Hello everyone,

My Girlfirend (22) and I (23) are planning on making the move out to Australia later this year.

Due to various reasons I think we're going to come out on a WHV and then ideally look for sponsorship. Anyway, she's a nurse and in September time will have 2 years Post Graduate experience. She's worked in Specialist Services and Rehabilitation for the NHS. She is currently working in a ENT surgical ward and really enjoys this line of work (Surgical).

Basically what we were wanting to know is what exactly it is she would be required to have in order to gain a sponsorship once over there or arranging something prior to arriving? Would it be best for her to sit her IELTS, register with APHRA and have a medical all over here prior to arranging anything? Or is other better solutions? Oh and we certainly plan to stay....at least for 2+ years and take it from there (reckon we'll end up staying of course).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kyle

I have to say, this is the most disappointing thread on this forum. I keep coming back to it but not once has there been any hint of a nurse in uniform.............

.....or I have I got the wrong site?

Hi just after a bit of advice please. If I qualified as a childrens nurse in the UK would I be eligible for the graduate nurse program in Australia or is that only for qualified adult nurses? Thank you.

Please help - ANMAC process

Hi. I have just got the ielts results today to enable me to progress to submitting an anmac application for my nursing skills assessment prior to submitting an eoi for visa 189. I passed the ielts and i have read the whole of the anmac website but i just have some questions please anyone?

1 - Do you think i should be able to submit this myself or is it difficult and i may need a migration officer?

2 - Not sure what ANZSCO code to put. I work in District Nursing and have done this since September 2012 so it is all new to me and am still learning so for my boss to write a statement with competencies might be a bit strange as there are things i am not competent in. I did work as a surgical nurse for 2 years prior to this. It looks like that I need to put my current position down as an ANZSCO code. I do not have three years experience in nursing so cannot claim extra 5 points for this but would it be worthwhile getting a statement/reference off my current boss and then one off my old boss where i was fully competent even though i do not really need to do that. I cannot see the harm (i know it would be under a different ANZSCO code).

3 - Certifying copies - a legal practitioner - is this a solicitor?

4 - An initial registration certificate - would NMC be able to provide me with that as i have lost mine?

Thank you kindly. I hope you can help/advise.

Hi there! You should be able to apply for permanent visas, is there any reason why you aren't doing this? By all means come on a WHV. I have known other nurses gain sponsorship that way! Just wondered.

Hello there,

Yeah a couple of reasons, one being obviously the cost involved with getting a visa. But another being that because me and girlfriend haven't lived together for 12 months we can't apply for a joint visa either. So timing and everything would be difficult also.

Regarding APHRA, medicals etc are we going about it the correct way?

Thanks for thr help.

Kyle

Ok. Obviously you're going to have to get your APHRA reg done. Medicals have an expiry date so I wouldn't do those. As for ILETS, I don't know a lot about it as that was a requirement after we migrated. Just to say I work with a nurse about your age who came over, a few months ago, on a WHV and the hospital have sponsored her on a 457 visa, so it is possible. I hope someone can answer your ILETS query! Good luck! Keep us posted! We're a nice little family on here.

Hi, I'm a staff nurse and we are applying for a 190 under my husband. As we are at the medicals/ police checks stage I'm going to start the aphra process, can anyone tell me how long it will take approx?

I am currently working on a chemotherapy day case unit ( since July,2012) and before that worked on the inpatient oncology wards at leeds hospital. Where will be the best place or me to start looking for a similar type of job? Any advice appreciated !

Thanks
