sunset addict
Hi My question is if you had your time again, what would you bring out that was so much more expensive when you had to buy it in Perth? We are trying to just ship stuff from home that we couldnt live without, and stuff that would cost A LOT more to buy in Perth. I really wish there was a Costco in Perth, my local branch told me there was , but it seems not. thanks

StraighttothePoint
This has been done already see this link. http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/health-care/11088-stocking-up-stuff-before-heading-oz.html Sensodyne toothpaste if you use it and Nivea spray sun tan lotion factor 30 when it is around a fiver or six quid (great for the car or in a bag when out and about) are the only two items that I have ever bothered with when I travel here. sunset addict
Thanks for the replies! I checked out that link Straight TTP but its more about little stuff people will miss etc, I really meant in terms of mega savings on things like flatscreens, electronics beds furniture etc. I figured that I can recoup quite a lot of the cost of the shipping on just a few items if there is a bit difference on some obvious items I should know about, but thanks anyway stocking up on sensodyne as we speak cant live without it, specially with all the icy cold drinks I am gonna down in a Perth Summer! lol

ROB T
A few cases of Kronenbourg would be ideal, slip em in the container and hope for the best!

Then in that case nothing. Everything here like that is competively priced I think and not worth the hassle of sorting out over there for shipping over. We did not bring out much and bought new here. Having a new life, a new house (rented or bought) in a new world and having the old three piece suite, knackered mattresses and tv's never did it fo us??? Does not make sense to me If you can afford to do it that way then that is what I would recommend. Save on container costs and spend, spend, spend on arrival.... Appreciate not everyone in the same boat though.....

Scot01
It's a hard one because once you know your way around, you know where to buy stuff that isn't too expensive or you know to wait until the sales are on. When you first come, you don't have that knowledge and everything will seem expensive. We don't have the likes of Primark (though Supre is similar!) but I did buy some trousers from Best and Less for $15 last week and everyone has asked where I got them! Toiletries can be expensive compared to the UK but then there are discount chemists where they are cheaper and go for Aussie brands. Bedding/towels - go for top of the range in Big W or Target or the discount store in Harbour Town. Decent towels in Best and Less! It's all about The Knowledge!! portlaunay
*Warning petrolhead answer below* A VW Type 34 Razor Edge and/or a Porsche 914 I don't think they're any more expensive here but they are harder to find and possibly not as well looked after and if they are, they're stupid money. Having said that, you can pick up a notch or fastback for nothing.

portlaunay
Should i bring my splitscreen van Portlaunay??Im about to sell it here in the UK..... Gutted! Tony I'd sell it. We had a lovely late bay, a really nice Moonraker that we loved and had so many memories in. I looked at RO-RO transport for it and in the end it would have taken 10+ years to break even (if ever) and we thought we'd just buy another here. I'm so glad we did, we would never have really used it, we just live differently now. Unless it really is everything to you and you can't live without it then don't bring it. There are plenty of interesting projects here.

Nikkis2000
Simple brand toiletries, about quadruple the price here if you use them! Ooh that's good to know OH lives and dies by simple face wash. This may seem like a silly question but its very important for me but what sort of sensitive sun cream is available out there? i get heat rash quite badly (I know, I know but I'm still coming over there!) and have to use sensitive stuff . I use Soltan mainly (Boots own brand) and sometimes Garnier. I'm assuming one wont be available and the other will be extortionate. Is it worth bringing a supply or are there good alternatives?
