Busselton Blues, looking for a meet up dahn saff, didn't think my accent was that bad

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Currently living in Busselton and working in Bunbury, when I agreed to take this job it really didn't look that far away on the map from Perth, however a few 3 hours trips into the city have now fully enlightened me as to what the scale on a map is there for!

Having trawled through the meet up locations without any luck, I am therefore starting a post to find out if there are there any Poms this far south? I am mid forties and currently waiting for a house sale which should enable the rest of my family to come out here in September. Meanwhile I am stuck in a Bedsit in Busso, is anyone up for a bit of socialising. Doesn't just have to be drinking, I enjoy cycling, golf and horseriding if thats any good to anyone? It would however be nice to meet some new mates over a midi!

Cheers

Dom

Let me know when you are thinking of coming out, i'll pass your CV around, I've got a big electrical contractor working on one of my jobs at the moment, always worth an ask eh, no harm trying. Ok course you will need the mandatory dreadlocks, to blend in with those guys and a cool goatee will help as well, so get growing!

That would be great mate, thanks. I'll PM you. I'll start work on the facial hair too, but I'll have to fashion some sort of wig for the dred's I reckon ;-)

No sorry, we are only allowed to tender work as far as Mandurah, we are strictly for the great south West only, let me know if he decides to go rural though. Mandurah and above is for the Perth head office only and I don't know any of the team up there. Just out of interest what is gap training, sounds like a year out?

The gap training is what all new migrants have to do to get their A licence , it can be done in around 6 months but he needs someone to take him on to complete the log book and get it signed off to complete a final exam for the A licence. It only came in in WA last July used to be just sit a course for 2 weeks and get the licence.......

Thanks for the reply though ,do you have to be living rural aswell?

It's now coming up to my 5th month in busso, and still really enjoying it. You are right there are some great accents out here, apparently I sound like a cross between Phil Mitchel and Jamie Oliver, where I work we have a guy with a thick Scottish accent and a French Canadian. It seems amazing that we all under stand each other OK and yet have to repeat things for the Aussies. Do you have trouble being understood at all? How are you enjoying Bunners?

Hi there, sorry for the delay in replying, had to go to Perth for a while for work, back now and yes, would be great to meet up. We sometimes go to the Parade after work, and went to another one called the Barbados overlooking the port the other day, if you know of some other places i'll meet you there. you've probably been to them all after 5 years here. I guess your husband must be into his footie if he's from Melbourne, hope he doesn't miss it too much. I've asked around at work where the best place is to go out for a hack, so should have some info on that when we meet up. How do you message on this system ?
