  2. Hi there, We've been led to believe that the coastline SOR is not as appealing as NOR. Is it true that it is very industrial in places and not as pleasing to the eye in some places? We wanted to know if there are any parts that are non-industrial that anyone could recommend to us? We do not want to rule the south out as we are concentrating on the north at the mo, but a nice coastline not too far away from home is one of our priorities. Any recommendations, thoughts, opinions would be much appreciated?s Cheers
  3. Hi Shelli, I have just sent you a private message xxxx
  4. Hi there, Anybody have any thoughts on Duncraig and surrounding areas for a young family, with schools in mind, house prices, people etc etc etc. I am panicking BIG time now as we arrive this Saturday! Our main priorities after arriving is finding a good area with a good primary school and securing a long-term let. Any thoughts, opinions, advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. Manisha xx
  5. Thanks to everybody for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate your help and the info you have provided. Now it's back to the the waiting game for her x
  6. Hi there, My colleague has her visa application in and I'm asking this question on her behalf. She received the results for her police checks this morning and it came back with "No Live Trace". She was given a minor verbal warning 10 years back but doesn't have a criminal record. Does this mean a visa will definately not be granted? Is there anybody that had this on their police checks? What was your outcome please? Thanks for your time.
  7. Hi there, Now that we have finally decided on which month to move, we are panicing as to what to do for accomodation when we first arrive Is it the norm to do a holiday let for a few weeks before securing a long-term let? But what if the holiday let ends and we still haven't secured something longterm and our furniture arrives and we're homeless!!!!!?? UURRRGGGHHHHH It's all so worrying!! If it was just me and hubby we'd stay in a tent but we have 2 children so the tent option might not work. I just wanted to get some ideas from people that have already made the move and find out what options there are for people. Thank you
  8. Hi there, We've had a few removal quotes in and they vary quite a lot as you probably know. Does anybody know whether sharing a container is a big No No? One company (I think it was Stirling) said you should never share a container because if anything dodgy is found in the other person's stuff, the whole container is quaranteened including yours, even tho it is completely separate to the dodgey one?? Another company said its no problem sharing a container as each bit is sectioned off, unloaded and treated as a separate entity altogether. Sharing is so much cheaper but we really want no probs at the other end. Not sure what the best thing to do is Would love some advice if that's ok? Thank you
  9. Thank you Malella you have just made my day All the best to you x
  10. We are due to emigrate in September this year and wanted to get a feel for what the fire alarm/construction service industry is like at the moment. My husband is a CAD design drafter in this industry in the UK. We have read a few posts saying that the civil industry in particular, has been in decline over the last few months and that the boom has now ended. I was wondering has the big decline affected drafting work in general as well? It's such a worry with our impending move. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you
  11. Thank you Rossmoyne for your comments and thank you for supplying the link for the schools. It's really good of you and I'll definitely take a look at it. I had no idea about the new train station being built at aubin grove. It's very good news! Cheers All the best.
  12. Hi there, We're planning on making the big move in September this year (me, hubby and our 2 boys aged 7 and 5). We have started looking at prices of rentals and there is a HUGE difference in price and what you get as you already know. We're not entirely sure what areas such as Success, Atwell, Aubin Grove and surrounding areas are like so wanted to get your opinion if that's ok. The rental prices in these areas are considerably less than other areas we like. I just wanted to know if anyone with young children live around these areas and what they think about the areas. Also are the kids happy living here and what kind of things/activities can they do here? Things that are important to us is being near a good school for the boys, being based not too far from the train line so we can get into the CBD for work. Also, do you know how long it would take to get to the nearest beach from here? We love the beach so would hopefully be going quite often. Also are there any decent parks/lakes that we can go to? Thanks for reading. Looking forward to hearing from you
