justphil
Hi guys, i'm currently on a 457 Visa since a few month. I started working for this company in Feburary 2014. I also got about 6 month work experience in Queensland. Just wondering how can i get the perm residency as soon as possible? I don't have enough points for the skilled visa because i only got 6 points at the IELTS test. Thats the main issue! Is there a legal way that the company sponsor me and i pay for all the fees? They mentioned they only pay the for 457 visa and thats it. Cheers
DyLeB
Your company can sponsor you at any time for 186PR visa if you hold a positive skills assessment and 3 years of work experience. There re is no rules who pays for the 186 so you could pay it all nomination and visa charges. If you don't meet the 3 years work experience - try the IELTS again , some people have had to sit it many times to get scores they need and will be a lot cheaper than paying all employers fees etc. What at is your occupation? justphil
I got 6 years work experience in Germany and almost 1,5 years in Australia. My trade is a mechanical fitter and i got work experience as a cnc machinist and fitter & turner. I got sponsored as a metal machinist. It should me almost the same if i pay for the skilled independent 189 visa (which i need the IELTS 7 for) or if i pay the employer nomination 186 visa. Thanks
DyLeB
Prob cheaper to do it yourself and the nomination part is $540, if the employer uses an registered migration agent to prepare this as it requires a lot of detail for this, this could cost a few $1000+. If your application is straight forward the skills assessment should be the longest part. Def get advice from a registered migration agent in best way forward. If it was me I would go down the 189 route.
justphil
Thanks for the information! To be honest i don't care how much it will cost. Just wanna get in done! I just want to make sure that there is no rules who pays for the 186 visa. My boss mentioned if the company sponsors me then the company has to pay for the fees. Otherwise it's illegal. That's why they want that i go for the skilled visa. Cheers Phil

Cheers Phil That is only the case for a 457 visa that the company has to pay for the fees, there is no rule for 186 or 187 employer sponsored visas, either party can pay the costs. DyLeB
Processing for 189 will prob be faster by a few months than 186.
