  1. For people venturing NOR... Kulcha Cafe in Joondalup is great for Asian fusion food - chinese/thail/vietnamese/malaysian. Always busy, really reasonable and are liscened plus BYO. Also, Elixor Cafe in Wanneroo Central is great, it's situated in the library. I've had breakfast and lunch there and both have been amazing. I'm off to try the Wild Duck in Nedlands this weekend so i'll let you know if that's any good!
  2. Not sure that i agree with that wee_me. I was just asking people what channels they used to look for nursing work and what appealed to them in their process of working overseas - it's not a trick question and there are no reports to be made on it. I was only asking people for their opinion. But it's ok. I've just asked some of my nurse friends back home and have more of an idea. So this thread is now redundant.
  3. Hi Portlaunay, sure i am looking at marketing channels to use for marketing campaigns to engage with nurses overseas. Nothing will be published, no personal details taken etc. I would just like to gauge the appropriate media/websites to reach out to nurses and thought those who have already migrated or looking to do so would be able to provide me with that information!
  4. Hi i hope this post is allowed. Please remove if not! I have recently migrated over from the UK and have started work for a private hospital in Perth. I am doing some market research on trends for nurses moving to WA from the UK & Ireland. If you are a nurse who has emigrated to WA or are in the process of doing so, or even just like the idea of it - would you mind enlightening me with your experiences, particularly around the following: What main drivers were there for you to emigrate to WA / are there for you to migrate to WA? What are you lookking for/looked for in your nursing career in WA? Did you apply for nursing jobs prior to moving? What websites did you use for recruitment? Thank you so much in advance for your help fellow PP's!
  5. Well it's one very very small box with half a dozen batteries in, but it's also right at the front of the cube!
  6. Hi, movecube has been today, packed up and sent off again. All very good, but I've just realised that I've missed one item off my inventory list. Has anyone else had this problem? What shall I do? I don't necessarily want to call sevenseas incase they decide to reject it all or charge me loads for the amendment but at the same time, I don't know if I can face chancing the risk of it being checked and rejected at the other end!
  7. Oh god don't!! I've been banned from watching it as it's got me all in a panic as to what I need to declare on my landing card and driving my BF insane with all the questions! Green tea capsules anyone lol?
  8. Really enjoying your posts Akasully2, we leave in 5 and half weeks so are just starting to visit some of our further away families that we probably won't see again or have time to see during our whistle stop visits back. So far, we've been ok. We have another two weekends clear before the "proper" farewells start and having a read through your experiences have made me feel that perhaps I'm not going to be as tough (or cold-hearted) as I think I am and showing my emotions rather than hiding them to stop others getting upset is probably the best way to be! Good luck with your last few days and I look forward to reading the rest of your posts!
  9. Robyn, I've just sent you a friend request on FB (I've also sent you a message but it will go in your others folder)
  10. Hi Robyn Only just seen your reply on this thread. I'll add you on Facebook. Enjoy your meet up this weekend ladies, and hopefully you'll have all established firm friendships and I can tag along when I arrive next month! (God it sounds so good saying that!).
  11. Hi Flatpack, as promised! I finally received a response from Singapore Airlines. After several emails back and forth, they then requested copies of our visa grant letters, so I emailed these over and have just received a reply saying that they will grant the migrant allowance on both legs of the journey and have updated my booking so that I don't have any issues in Singapore.
  12. Hi Robyn, I'm not out in Perth yet but will be arriving mid-June. I'm currently living in Herts but am an Essex girl (not the TOWIE or white stiletto type!) - whereabouts are you from? I'm 30, but would have 'celebrated' my 31st by the time I arrive. I'm going to be staying in the Wanneroo area with friends when I arrive until I find my own place. Would be happy to meet up when I get there!
  13. Thanks for your replies! I have emailed Singapore air who replied saying they needed to check and come back to me - slightly concerning! Flatpack - I will let you know of the response! We've already booked the hotel, we did look at the Singapore stopover but the hotel we wanted wasn't included, so we booked one through one of their krisflyer partners - so earn extra points on top of our airmiles. Worth signing up to their krisflyer programme if you haven't done so already - especially if you are planning on doing a lot of traveling with them - they have loads of partners across Asia and Australia!
  14. We fly to Perth from London in June, we have brought a multi-city one-way ticket with a stopover in Singapore. As we have unvalidated visas, we've been given the 10kg migrant allowance on top of our 30kg standard allowance. Has anyone used the additional migrant allowance and had a stopover en route? My concern is that we won't be re-allowed it when we check back in at Singapore. I'm assuming that we will need to check in separately for both legs of the journey given we are in Singapore for 3 nights? Or could we check in for the complete flight at London? Would they keep hold of our checked luggage if we did that? I've never done a stopover before - only a few hours layover so not sure if the rules are the same?
  15. Hi, I'm really toying with the idea of the small movecube over shipping some boxes as we are really taking the bare minimum. Can I ask what you are planning on filling yours with? My concern is that I won't have enough to fill even the small cube. We know what we want to take, we haven't started packing any of it up yet though! Our inventory list is: 49" flat screen TV Pots/Pans/Utensils/knives etc Box of xmas decs Couple of large canvas prints 1 metal ornament OH's power tools - He doesn't know how much that'll be and I have no idea! How close to shipping do you need to book your cube?
