  1. I appreciate people trying to help but as I say I have spoken to them and they can't or more won't do it, they only unlock phones that people buy directly from them with the sim you use in it as it were. I bought this phone when my phone died out of warrantee then put my sim in it. So flawed and very annoying.
  2. Unfortunately as I touched upon I have spoken to orange and they cannot/will not unlock my phone. I am not paying the $200+ to unlock so I imagine I will just wait and buy an unlocked iphone 6 in a few weeks!
  3. Unfortunately it's not a case of I can't get in touch with them, I have spoken to orange and they cannot/will not do it. With the amount of wifi in this place I can handle it for now but the not having a phone to make calls is an issue. I don't want to have two phones and I don't want to lump out loads on a new phone. I will have to grin and bare my current situation I guess. Thanks as always guys.
  4. Has anyone had any luck with an EE locked phone working on any of the Australian networks? Orange won't unlock my phone and online I'm looking at hundreds of $ to get it done. They piggy back back the Telstra network but I don't think that means I can simply use a telstra sim but this is not my field of expertise! Cheers
  5. Hello! Realised I have not sort of touched upon my situation, what I am doing, I've just asked questions. So here it is! I'm coming out to Perth on Monday night, I am going to be playing Cricket mainly. My current housemate in the UK has a dual citizenship of the UK and Australia and is coming out a day after me at which point we will be looking at apartments etc hopefully somewhere either near a beach or near the WACA haha. Really looking forward to the Cricket world cup!! I will work the hours required to apply for a second year visa and hopefully stay on for two years bar a couple weddings I will be flying home for. My mobile phone question is this, what is the best way to go. My iPhone is useable but the screen is smashed. It is pretty much perfectly useable however though so I am fine to use it if a Pay as you go sim with bundles etc is the best way to go, however if a contract mobile phone is best, with the added bonus of getting a new non smashed phone, then how long do I have to be in Australia before I can apply for one? I would use it for internet things like Social Network sites and Whatsapp. The odd regular phone call and text back home and the odd Facetime video call. All help greatly appreciated, without this site I would be no where close to as well prepared as I am so thank you all! D.
  6. Hiya, Wonder if someone can help. If I get a normal visitor visa and decide after a couple of weeks that I want to work in Perth for the next year or two. Can I apply for a working visa that soon into a visitors visa and while I'm actually in Australia? Or do I have to be in England to apply for a working visa and not holding a valid visitors visa at that time. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance as always.

    Hats!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't find a fitting sub forum! Right, I appreciate I will needs hats, sunstroke is horrific, however, and this is the shallowest thing I may ever say.... I look like a proper bellend in 'sun' hats! A friend who recently returned from a year in Australia said 100% get snapbacks, the visor is the biggest and protects the best. Is this a common hat in Australia then? If I'm going to look like a d**k I might as well be as efficiently protected as possible! (plus, he could be winding me up!) Thanks as always
  9. Not really in the same category as where you would go for dinner, lunch etc but has anyone eaten at the Carbon Sports Bar in Burswood Casino? Being a big sports fan, I imagine a lot of my time will be in there watching Arsenal! Don't expect a high standard in a casino, due to the expectations created by my local casino in the UK, just looking for something to fill a 90 minute hole!
  10. Sorting out stuff to do, beaches to see, places to eat in perth and found this post/this site. Taken so much from here I thought I'd join to say thanks! Putting what I can find, of interest to me and my 'situation' as it were!, into a simple spreadsheet. If it would help anyone I don't mind sending them it. It is a constant work in progress though of course! Looking forward to Australia!
