  1. Thank you Scot01, that's been really helpful. Our daughter is nearly 7, and it's both types of dyspraxia she's affected by. She had a severe speech and language delay and disorder, but with ST and time she has come a long way. We think she still struggles with processing thoughts and ideas and this is affecting her schoolwork. She also has difficulties particularly with gross motor skills and co-ordination. While we lived in Perth she had weekly OT for this. She doesn't seem to have dyslexia and is a fantastic reader. One of the main issues for her though is that she's extremely shy, I would almost say it's a social phobia, which is not only hard for her but frustrating for the teachers because they don't know if she can't say or won't say! The problem with private schools in Perth, from what I've seen, are the enormous waiting lists/competition for limited places?
  2. Hi, My daughter was diagnosed with dyspraxia a number of years ago and we are in the process of potentially moving back to Perth and wondered if anyone knew of schools that either specialise in support for this or would be good for her? Would appreciate any help Thanks
  3. As we have a PR Visa for which i am the holder, could i be in oz prior to the visa ending and whilst i'm there apply for the extension without my family being there? Ideally we want the kids to finish a school year that year before coming out. I'm just a bit confused around options or do we all need to make sure we are there before the visa expires. Thanks for any advice
  4. We have been discussing the option me returning before the visa expires and my family coming out in the summer once the school year has finished. What are the rules around this because i'm the main holder of the visa?
  5. Hi, I worked for a company called Ajilon in Perth who are an IT consultancy company who are relatively big within WA, they cover a whole range of IT roles.
  6. Hi, I was wondering if someone could help with how the resident return visa works. My wife and I moved out to Australia in Sept 2012 on a State sponsored 176 visa but returned to the UK in November 2013. When we came back we have had a family bereavement and my wife is now expecting our fourth which means that we haven't been able to return and the earliest would be May 2016. Does anyone know what the rules are around being granted this visa and if i should be doing anything else? I would appreciate any help.
  7. The uni will be able to produce something for you, I had to do the same thing for my assessment and paid a small fee for them to produce a copy
  8. Medicals cost around £100 per person, shipping container varies depending on size, for us it was around £3000 for half container but there are also costs at the other end as well which was around another $1000 which we didn't budget for as we were not informed. Cost of the actual visa is between I think £1,500 - $2,500.
  9. I would have a look for some threads on cost of living to get an idea of whether $85k would be enough, there are a number of them at the moment. As you say it depends on what you see as your expenditure. For us there are 5 (a adults and 3 children) with me only working on slightly more than that and we get by but we don't spend a lot. It would probably help if your wife gets a job to be honest.
  10. You do it over the internet when you are in the country. It takes a few days to process and is sent to you. Sometimes if you give it a couple of days you can call them up and get it over the phone. Employers just need the number
  11. Our eldest is at school in Aveley so it made sense to find somewhere close to live. At the moment we're a 25 min drive away and school run traffic is horrible - not the reason we came to australia! Also Aveley seems really smart and new and reasonably affordable.
  12. Hi Dawn and Amanda...That sounds brilliant, we would love to meet up. We are moving in on 16th December, so anytime from then is fine. Maybe we can all get together for a Christmas drink in the sunshine (that's going to take some getting used to!!) Good luck with the move, Amanda!
  13. Hi, We are a family of 5 (me, hubby, 3 children aged 7, 3 and 2) who arrived in Perth at the start of September. My husband now has a job in the city so I am at home with the little ones and doing school runs etc. We're currently in Beldon, but are moving to Aveley in about a month's time (my eldest is at school there) and it would be really great if I knew some other mums, particularly with kids around the same age, in the area. Obviously being at home with young children can be quite isolating, especially if you don't work, so I would love to make some friends and have some adult company. Playdates for my younger ones would be fab too, as they won't be at school/pre-school full-time for a while yet. I look forward to hearing from you Lucie x

    Budget Help

If you shop around you can find home phone and broadband as a package and I have seen optus doing it for $59.99 a month which is good. Foxtel is right if you essentially want all the packages and therefore can vary.
