  1. Just out of curiosity how busy was the open home? we went to c couple when we were in Perth 2 years ago just to be nosey at the houses but there was a queue of people around the block at some of them. just wondering if with the number of rentals that are out there if there is less people looking for houses.
  2. It won't be myself sponsoring it would be my uncle who has permanent residency. TBH i don't think my mother would settle permanently she is far to independant. The ideal situation will be for her to purchase/rent a small property in Oz whilst retaining a smaller property in the UK. Since retiring my mother is never at home and usually globetrotting to stay with friends in other parts of the world. up until now the 3 month visa has been fine but ideally she doesn't want to be tied to having to leave the country and then return based on visa rules.
  3. Thanks Jen. Perhaps I should have made it clearer in my post but i was actually looking to see if here was any private landlords on here who wanted to avoid estate agency fees or anyone looking to break lease.
  4. Looking for a rental from Mid-end Feb (can be flexible for right property) Will consider anything from Stirling north or Atwell going south to mandurah Minimum 3 bedrooms but must have at least 2 bathrooms and be all on one level and accept a small house trained adult jack russell. Can provide excellent reference for both humans and dog. furnished or unfurnished please
  5. We are in the process of completing my mums application to join us in Oz on a more permanent basis. As it stands at the moment we are flying out mid February and she is hoping to come with us to help out with the childcare and things whilst we can get ourselves sorted out. Now she is only planning ob being out for 2-3 months and will have a return ticket. So I am a little confused on which visa application we should do and when???? If i apply for a tourist visa now and then we submit the 2nd application before we leave will this cancel the first visa meaning she is refused entry? I had also considered submitting the 2nd application onshore but again i don't want to do anything which gets her in trouble for being in the country illegally. Alternatively do i wait until she returns home in April but will that mean she can not travel as a visitor to Oz later on this year? Sorry i thought our visa application was confusing but I cant get my head round this at all. Thanks in advance
  6. I have Higher National Certificate in Healthcare which i was led to believe by MA that is the equivalent of an Australian diploma qualification level 5??? I advised the company that I spoke with that I have a full Uk DL licence which I will convert, I will have be buying a reliable car, I have a Valid UK first aid certificate but more than happy to obtain an Oz one on arrival. These where listed as required. I also have a valid police check certificate. Currently I work part time in the Uk (20hrs) and take on extra where i can. I usually work 2 sleepover shifts with clients as this is what fits best with family but i am totally flexible and more than happy to be taken on as a casual worker to start with until the family a re fully settled. I may even consider returning to University and doing a nursing degree. I truly did not realise that this type of work was paid so much better than in the UK. Leaving my current role to go back to office work was having me dread the move.
  7. Thanks for this. We have family in Perth and have visited on holidays previously. I have also been to Adelaide and the Gold Coast and loved both those areas but we don't know anyone there hence we have decided to start in Perth.
  8. Hi there Been lurking on this board for a while but never plucked up the courage to join and post but then i thought why not, whats the worst that can happen:unsure: So here goes. We have our Visa in place and now looking to make the move over at some point this year. We are coming out to Perth in February to visit family and have a look around at different suburbs. For the last year in the UK i have been working in the community to support aged and disabled clients to continue to live in their own homes. I love this job and satisfaction that I get working with these people. Originally I was thinking that I would probably need to go back to my previous profession in HR and stuck in an office all day, but having had a look through SEEK the other night there does seem to be a lot of openings for similar positions around the Perth area. So i though i would email one of the companies who was advertising to see if with my experience and UK qualifications (HNC healthcare) whether or not I would be suitable. Last night I received a lovely reply from the recruitment department saying that the cert 3 in aged care is not always needed and that they would be happy to chat further with me either over the phone from the UK or on arrival in Perth. Needless to say I was over the moon that I even got a reply never mind the positive tone of the email. Does anyone have any experience of these sort of positions? Some of the roles on Seek listed salaries as $25-$29/hr with double time on weekends/public holidays which is way way more than i get in the UK and we don't get any enhancements! Knowing that I could continue in such a great career has certainly made me feel alot more positive about making the move now and i think I can actually say I am looking forward to it now
